Who the heck would trade a Mew for a friggin Fennekin? Jirachi? Darkrai? WTF. The GTS is full of crap. Sorry, "please" doesn't cut it.
When there's an actual GOOD TRADE, A lvl 100 Darkrai for lvl 100 Entei, NOPE. YOU CAN'T TRADE IT. DOGGONE EVENT PKMN. They sell for a good price, but IMO? You should trade what you want to. If you actually wanna trade Mew for a Fennekin, be my guest. If normal, duped pokemon may be faked, why not event pkm? There's verfication somewhere, I'm sure.

And then people show Phiones for legendaries like Mew, Jirachi, (I can understand Celebi), Keldeo, and Victini. Sorry bud, Phiones half the time only work for KALOS LEGENDARIES and OUT OF GEN REGULAR POKEMON. Same with Ekans.

Ingame trading today(not GTS) I was showing my legendaries. The person had Cobalian already, so that was an X. Zygarde? Yup. Darkrai? They wanted it. Their offer? PHIONE. I think not. And then they refused to trade for anything else. I've learned one thing: show your legendaries LAST. If they don't ask, wait.

(I have Ekans and Phione already, Ekans I got for free [thank you fellow TBT member] and Phione I traded for a i cant remember mystery pokemon.)

Shinies for legendaries. I can understand that.

Overall, I think the trading system is kinda messed up right now, with bad trades and everything. But, you're perfect in your own eyes, right? In other people's eyes I make crappy offers. In my eyes, I don't. Everyone has an opinion.
whatevs cya ima stalk the gts for a shiny frogadier that DOESN'T HAVE AN IMPOSSIBLE TRADE.

Literally I always ask this, and anytime I've brought it up I get slammed and people tell me to shut the hell up cause that's what they want. "Just because YOU wouldn't ask for a Mew in exchange for a Zubat doesn't mean they're not allowed", which I never bashed anyone for it. They can do what they want, but the fight behind it makes no sense. It's like trying to charge too much for a cheap item.

Also one thing I noticed, people who aren't as well versed on what it is to be a "legendary" versus one that everyone can obtain but there is only one per game, they put a lot of faith in pkmn we all get but take no skill (and sometimes not even a battle) to obtain.
example; people who are still trying to trade the OG 3 Starters around like they're extremely hard to obtain

It's been like this since the GTS was first introduced, so I don't expect anything less from it. It's frustrating, but I just trade with people I trust nowadays.

People don't actually lose much from doing this (other than people hacking the game, getting a level 1 Reshiram to them with a 0/0/0/0/0/0 spread), so they just go on ahead and either hope that they manage to actually get a ridiculous trade from a kid who doesn't know anything, or they just wanna show off their shiny. That's my take on it, and that's why I haven't even bothered with that, and I stick to Wonder Trading.

I don't think I've been randomly traded with before. Random battles all the time, but not trading.

And oh god the GTS, ever since Black and White its been Arceus this, Mew that.

I traded a lvl 100 event mew to somebody here on TBT for a lvl 1 male chikorita; as I was helping him/her get their dream pokemon.

So.. while its rare, some people will trade legendaries for garbage. However, I do agree, the GTS is crap. They seriously need to set it up so it won't let you even ask for pokemon that can't be traded on the GTS in the first place. Stop all those people just using it to show off their shinies/legendary pokemon(that's what 99% of those trades on GTS are, afterall, people showing off what they've got in such a way that they don't have to prove they didn't hack for it)

edit: oh, and OP? try going to the reddit boards for shinies[if you know your shiny value, that is]. I've gotten tons of shinies from their boards myself. Including two shiny froakies(I used to hate froakie with a passion until I saw shiny greninja, now I love my Ashu), two honedges[one of them has a perfect IV roll and egg moves for competitive battles], and two tepigs to list a few.

Instacheck doesn't work anymore. Gotta use the new method to find your shiny value[I believe it has to do with battle videos; but don't quote me on that.

I can breed you a rattata if you're still looking for one. Won't have very good ivs, but its really not hard to fix that.

Plus, I've been meaning to work on getting a team of 6IV rattatas made, just to reference Youngster Joey with them(and annoy the hell out of people with my team of elite rats! Much like I'm planning with a team of elite zubats)
