Wendell is a wallpaper selling walrus who will show up in your town on a random weekday between 6 AM and midnight. He is so hungry and if you give him fish, fruit, or a mushroom, he'll give you special patterns for free as a reward. Many of his patterns are designed to make your town look more city-like; for example, he will give you patterns that are designed to look like roads of different shapes, or patterns that look like signs to important buildings, like the Town Hall.You can display Wendell patterns at Able Sisters, credited to being designed by Wendell from Sumware.
