Hello everyone :)

I've always wanted to know why the octopus villagers can't be starter villagers.
Does anyone here have an idea or an explanation why they can't be starter villagers?

Many people on this fourm have started off with smugs and uchis. One of my friends had hazel as a starter. Its rare, thats why.

Most sources I have looked still say they CAN NOT....but still.....Octopi are still unable to be starter...I hate it...but it seems to be true..

I've had Zucker as a starter once when I was refreshing.
I've never gotten a single uchi/smug though. THAT sounds a lot more rare.

some people tend to mistake starters as the villagers who move in after you start your town, which is why some people claim to get smugs and uchis as starters.

I couldve sworn a friend had gotten zucker as a starter, but I cant be sure. idk why you cant get them as a starter, they might be considered special villagers.

I know I came along Zucker once or thrice while I was hyper-resetting for a good map.
Proof? I don't have to prove anything to you. It doesn't matter anyways.

Having Octopus villagers are possible to have as a starter, it's just rare because there are only 3 Octopus' out of 300 something villagers. Smug and Uchi villagers, however, are impossible to get as starters. No idea why. It's just how it is.

Honestly who knows..
there used to be even stricter rules on Starters.. in WW you couldn't get unique looking villagers as starters; eg the superheroes, the octopi, Kabuki, Genji.. etc
In City folk you couldnt get the Octopi, Ankha, and some others

Octopi have definitely never been available as starters though
in any game across the franchise

I don't have definitive proof, but honestly theres never been a pic of one on a town tree planting thread
there was numerous research on other forums during CF/WW/GC into Octopi as starters
and they never could be

Hmmm...now I really want to know. Where does this information come from? Has Nintendo or one of the designers actually stated for a fact that a certain type of animal or personality absolutely cannot be a starter?

Once I would have said that my nephew had Julian as a starter, but I would be mistaken. He was his first move-in AFTER a start.

I never saw any picture with an octopi on the cerenomy. .
back to city folk days there were some villagers that need to move in, like Gigi, Lucky, Anabell and so on, on new leaf there definitly smugs and uchis need to move in after a start. With the octopi i'm not sure. I never saw or heard of it, but this doesnt mean that its not possible... but i guess they are not able to be a first 5 starter.. only because i saw a lot of starter and people who resetted a crazy lot of times never saw on of them
