So i've felt like for a long time if I don't wear custom clothes by me then I feel like my character is unoriginal or if I don't use custom designs for my island then my island isn't original or unique,, so I try to create cute designs but get super stressed when I can't execute things properly. I've felt like this even in NL,,I guess I just need some closure,,
Well, I think making qr’s take practice. You can always look and get inspiration from other codes and such but not feel like you ripped it off because you created it! I feel the struggle, but I’ve let myself accept that I can’t do clothing! I just wear the buyable clothes in game.
Honestly OP, I wouldn't worry about it. I've seen some amazing islands that don't use custom patterns. A lot of islands that don't use custom patterns and even those that do tend to use popular patterns that look nice - it's not as if everyone is going out of their way designing their own for their islands.
I guess I'm not creative either then =( I'm not artistically skilled enough to make my own designs and never really thought it would be considered a bad thing...now I'm having doubts
I could never make anything good enough so I'm actually attempting to make everything only with what the game provides. My outfit is all game provided and I love it, although I'm trying to change into more summery for the next month.
Nah. I'm not using a lot of custom designs, and you could technically argue that's still creative because you're working within the limits of what the game gives you by default instead of turning to an easier solution for the exact thing or look you're trying to create. I can't make a wooden "deck" for example, since I don't use the patterns I see everywhere for that, so I'm looking to other solutions like the wood path instead.
I even prefer to use the game's given paths, because they make the sound of stone or tile or wood when you're stepping on them, whereas custom patterns all sound like you're walking on a piece of plastic or nylon or smth and it takes away from the immersion a little. As for clothes, I've seen some great custom designs, but it's hard to make them look as good as clothing the game gives you.
I don't use custom designs myself. Especially if I created them personally, they may look good in the design window, but once you've placed them on something, maybe not. It's a real gamble depending on how creative you are. If it doesn't work out, it's a big waste of time I feel.
I never wore any custom designs even in New Leaf. In fact, I think it's far more creative (and resourceful) to build something out of what you only have.
Honestly the clothing in animal crossing are really nice regardless whether you wear custom clothing or not. I'm honestly really impressed. Don't worry too much about not being creative because of it. As long as you're content with what you're wearing you're good imo c:
I always used custom clothes in New Leaf. But New Horizons clothes are so amazing and have so many varied meshes I haven't found the need to use custom clothing. Finding a cute outfit within the restrictions of using only what already exists takes creativity too!
I am using custom paths in some areas of my town, however. Though I've been considering getting rid of them as I dislike that custom paths don't show up on the map.
on my old acc i mainly made qr clothing to represent my culture (there's not much ingame), or to wear sanrio stuff. but im def not creative bc i never got around to re adding it
There’s nothing wrong with wearing or not wearing custom designs, I wore a lot of designs in NL, but in NH, I don’t wear it as much because of the clothing choices in this game and it’s not a problem.
I have never had anyone comment about me being "unoriginal" because I don't use custom designs. Tbh I don't think they care that much anyway. It's a non-issue.
coming from someone who loves making and using/wearing custom designs everywhere on my own island, i don’t consider an island or player any less creative for not using them. in fact i think it’s really cool to see people use only what the game gives them and make something amazing.
i also think it’s really fun to put together outfits from the clothes available in the game! i like making my own outfits but i definitely wear the game clothes more because they allow for more variety of outfits.
Honestly it’s hard to make an custom outfit and really be happy about it. I’m not good at using the custom editor so I find Creator codes from Instagram XD
