Not knowing who the host is

Sometimes, when I go to an island and there are many people there, I never know who the host is! I wanna drop the tip in front of them because I've witnessed visitors stealing tips before. I sometimes check the passports but their pictures sometimes don't match their current character. What do you guys do when this happens? I have also said hi and thought the host was the person nearest the station, only to realise later that it wasn't them all along XD Quite embarrassing. Does anyone else feel this way?

It has definitely crosses my mind but I would just ask, I’m sure the host will understand.

I've had this problem before too and it definitely would be nice to have it solved. I've literally had people steal my tips for the host of a catalog event, or a trade before, when there are many people around. Would be as simple of a fix as adding the hosts in game name during the flight loading screen or something similar.

Or just having a little icon on top of their character would be nice! Maybe you can toggle it on and off so it isn't too invasive.

Or just having a little icon on top of their character would be nice! Maybe you can toggle it on and off so it isn't too invasive.

This would be a great idea for it. A small mallet icon or something to designate the host would be simple to implement and would save many a headache.

Yes, and each player would have an icon/pointer on the map with there colour from the chat log app.

yes it would be great if this was visible! I've been confused about who the host was too
but having it above their head might be a little weird and make it less 'real' and more like a sims game lol
maybe like others said something in the map, or with the - button something where you can see all the current players

Kinda. I always check the map then, but sometimes the outfit really changes the base character they have. Would be nice if the host had a permanent nametag around them for their visitors.

I always try to find out/ask the host what they look like. Some of the time they describe their in-game looks in the opening post, which is always helpful

But I agree that it is otherwise hard to specify who exactly the host is.

I’m so scared and I’ve been trying so hard to be careful since I joined a few days ago. So far, I haven’t had any trouble with that because the hosts usually describe their characters appearance , or they’ll only let a few people in at a time. They’re also very interactive with the visitors. They’ll say hi, bye , and respond to ty and moderate activity on their island. At least that’s what I’ve gathered from my experience but please tell me if I’m wrong.

This has happened to me before too, I like to avoid joining bigger parties because I won’t know who the host is and I hate waiting for all those loading off the airport screens.

LOL this happened to me and realized the host was afk not even charging for an entrance, but accepted tips. i dropped it in front of her though, since it was obvious who was afk. but idk if she got it.

Just ask who's the host! Sometimes when I open for random people I hold an axe or shovel so they (should) understand that I'm the host.

The map helps with that. Its shows the list of the villagers and human players living on the island.

I also had this happen to me, that's why I always say who my character is like what they're wearing and stuff

Press minus, and i believe you can check other's passports. The very first passport is the host.
