Not Enough Space For Digital Copy?

I want to download the digital copy of the game. The data corrupted recently on my physical copy, so I figured that if I had two towns, I'd at least have one to go to if it ever happens again.

But I can't download it because there isn't enough space on my 3DS.

I've deleted everything on it, but it's still not having any of it.

What can I do?

Thank you!

Do you still have a ton of ACNL pictures on your 3DS? That might be what's taking up the rest of the space XD

(protip--if you want to back them up, you can access gmail in the browser and it's a much better way of sending lots of ACNL pics to your computer!)

That's a good point.. I still have all the pictures from my old town on there.. I'll put them onto my computer and see if it makes a difference :) Thank you

If I had a different SD card, would it make a difference?

Like, one for when I play with the phyiscal copy, but then put the other one in for when I play with the digital one?

Sorry if it sounds stupid, I'm not really clued-in with all this stuff :)

Yeah, that should work, an empty SD card would definitely have enough space to download the game XD

How big is your SD card at the moment? I personally bought a 32GB for my digital copy (and possibly other games which no longer sell in stores)

I have a 4GB SD card and have Digital copies of Mario Kart 7, ACNL, Luigis Mansion, and a bunch of Virtual Console Games...

Unless you only have a GB SD card I find it hard to believe it's full :/

You can certainly buy a bigger SD card though. Simply copy and paste the data from the original onto the new one and just use that :)

Sorry for hijacking this thread :

if I want to change to a 32gig card, do I need to copy everything over to the new card?

Or the game will still be able to run as before and safe into the new card whatever needs to be safe?

Thanks

If you don't mind me asking, how do physical copies get their data corrupted? I'm worried about that happening to me now :o Sorry for your loss. Good luck with your new town!

Yeh, just copy over the two 3DS folders from the old SD card to the new one and insert the new one back into your 3DS.
Keep the old one as a spare with the old data still on it. Then you're ready to continue as normal.

The only thing to remember is the same Club Nintendo/eShop account must be used.

It can be a number of ways. Water damage, impact damage, heat etc.
It's very unlikely but does happen.

Also just to say, physical copies can be corrupted with the save data/game itself without fluids and such.

Yeh, but it needs some form of trauma. It won't just happen by itself.

It's extremely unlikely to corrupt from an event like loss of power during saving because the "state" of the game is either saved or it's not therefore won't corrupt (it will either create the new save or revert to the old state. There is no middle ground. That's why things like the duplication cheat is possible (because the two states of the two games don't align, allowing one state to be saved before the other one).

99.9% of the time it's caused by being dropped.
