I've been following this for 2 months. It was a day that would eventually come and it's unfortunate. I'll miss the fun times I had playing AC:CF with my friends (as well as playing Mario Kart Wii).
This really frustrates me, what's the point making it a core feature of the games and then taking it away. Oh yeahhhh, to make me buy the new consoles which I would've done anyway grr >.<
If only they could have kept it alive just for one week more so I could've played MK wii online before MK 8 comes out.
That said Nintendo didn't kill their online service to push people to there newer consoles like some people seem to think, it was just that Nintendo WFC used the Gamespy service which closed down, lots of other games were affected on other consoles such as a lot of EA games on PC like the early Battlefield games and Crysis 1 and 2.
I think EA did save some games that used GameSpy, shame Nintendo didn't migrate Wii and DS games to the Nintendo network somehow.
Still, it'd been nice if GameSpy didn't shut down at all (I don't know exactly what happened, but from what I heard, it was acquired by some business and then they shut it down) to be honest, GameSpy was a pretty rubbish service anyway.
I had a lot of good memories with Wild World online, but a lot of bad memories also. I ended up getting my town brick via seeds because I wasn't watching the group visiting. Also had someone attempt to change all of the furniture in my house to triforces too but I was able to see that before anyone left.
I think they decided to shut it way too early, they should have waited at least two more years.
Also. If I recall correctly, on WW in order to get Nook's last expansion you need a friend to visit your town and buy something. Thiw will no be difficult to do since I don't think there's a lot people playing WW anymore, if not the DS itself. And the only possibility to get the expansion is to have someone you know in real life visit you.
