I've been looking through all of the villagers posted, and some people are getting ridiulous! Up to 500 NMT for a dreamie? How do you get that many? I've also seen people asking for 50 nmt as a starting price for tier 5 villagers. I'm not sure about others, but I've never had more than 5 at a time! I am worried that people will start to prefer nmt, and I won't be able to get my dreamies.

Yes, it’s ridiculous. I’ve found it’s not super hard to get many nmt (i’ve had over 100). You just gotta get your head in the trading game (trading tbt, igb, etc).

The good thing about the popularity of this currency is that it’s offered for many things - charging folks to come to your island and sell turnips, entry fees for villagers crafting etc. So it would be relatively easy for you to get more NMT!

I know the prices are ridiculous but unfortunately the economy is really hard to control. If you want your dreamies you could always grind the quicker Nook Miles achievements and cross your fingers for lucky RNG :) it’s not like they’re unattainable!

I think eventually NMT will become less popular as currency. Or at the very least, prices will go down. Once the new villagers get amiibos and once enough people manage to, one way or another, get their dreamies, then the demand will go down. I think on the villager tier thread I've already seen discussion about how NMT prices for villagers HAVE been dropping slowly.

The only thing NMT gets you is to visit other islands, so once people don't care about visiting tons of islands as much, then NMT as a currency will become less of a thing.

I think NMTs will still be around. They are useful as a higher value of currency in a game where we are limited in the amount of bells we can carry.

I'm pretty sure they bid the crazy amount for a villager just to sell them for even more nook tickets, or there using ebay to buy 400 tickets... which is kinda tempting but i don't want to turn into a real life buyer for ig characters -w-

I honestly hate it as a currency. NMT are only even worth 10k if you sell them to Nook's, and unless you are island hopping for your own dreamies, or trying to get lucky for a hybrid island, they're fairly useless. I can't imagine people needing SO many resources they need to gather everything from their island AND go to tons of mystery islands as well. I just don't understand it. Bells are so much more useful. A NMT isn't going to pay for your millions of bells home loans.

Yea I asked the same question a couple weeks ago, turns out people are buying tickets from ebay.
