New Villager

I have an empty spot for a villager to move into, but I haven’t got any. I went to Nook and he didn’t give me any option to recruit.
Also, how do you get villagers to go to your campsite?

You might have to travel to Mystery Islands by using Nook Mile Tickets. Villagers randomly appear at your campsite. If a villager doesn't move in, I think one eventually will.

Wait what? Did you put the plot down? It shouldn't take that long for a villager to move in. If you don't go to mystery islands then plots should be filled in within 1-3 days and if ur not finding any villagers on tours then either u don't have an empty plot or there is something wrong.

Did you buy land from Tom Nook and set up the construction site?

That's a new one to me. I suppose if going to Mystery Islands isn't doing the job, then waiting for someone to visit your campsite might be your best bet. How many villagers are living on your island right now excluding you? And how far are you into the game?

I went to a mystery island and invited them so it now says sold. I have 9 villagers (before the new one) and I’m maybe semi-far into the game

The reason I was asking is because I heard that you have to move in a villager from a campsite, and this happens early on in the game, so I was wondering if that was the issue. I'm glad you got this resolved. I wonder if this is one of the many glitches from the recent update.

I do recall people saying long ago (like, shortly after launch) that your tenth villager had to be invited and wouldn't be a random. I am not sure how true this is or was, but if this is your first time reaching 10 villagers, that might just be normal...
