New villager scam?

Hi, just got scammed by a new (?) trick when I bought Judy for 400 NMTs:
So I talked to judy first, she called Nook etc everything's good. Then and only then I dropped payment, talked to judy again to confirm and exited via the "-" button.
However, connection dropped during the animation at the airport, and I went back to my island automatically, without the NMTs.
When I went to my plot, it still wasn't sold.

Has this happen to someone else?

oof i prefer to leave through the airport because the minus button can cause errors sometimes

did they give you the nmt back or invite you to try inviting her again? just incase

I've had a situation where someone dropped nmts and then right after they DC'd but the nmts were still on the floor. So i think autosave must have kicked in at a certain point.

I have heard issues of using the "-" button and reverting everyone to the previous save but have not experienced it first hand.

Have you talked to the seller? They might not have meant to scam you, as the - button could have caused a problem. Obviously, if they avoid your messages, it might have been more intentional.

using the "-" can cause bad, bad things to happen. you're better off leaving the proper way and ONLY using "-" when someone is on YOUR island and you want to boot them because they are doing something wrong... otherwise it can mess up the save and leave you in the position you're now in.

Actually I misjudged him, he was a new account (1day) without any history, so I jumped to a wrong conclusion.
He let me come on his island again, where I talked to Judy who didn't know me, and I had to invite her again.
However, he did confirm that he still had the 400 NMTs. He just put his console to sleep when I exited the island.
So in the end, everything worked out for me, but if he had bad intentions, I would have been scammed by this unavoidable trick.
I don't know if putting console to sleep when leaving via airport could do the same thing!

I haven't personally had any issues using the - sign to end sessions.
I think what happened is you got disconnected because he put his console to sleep (he shouldn't have done that but probably didn't know any better).

The issue here is that we weren't all reverted back to last save: I invited judy FIRST then dropped the payment. However, he managed to keep the payment and judy: myplot was still free, and I had to go talk to judy a second time, meaning he could be able to sellher to another guy, for 400 more NMTs etc

putting the console to sleep, will cause a disconnection from online(visiting/visitors/island travel), might want to warn them about that. if you do a quick search through the forums, you will find people have been having issues with "-" out of places. island hosts will use it in defense when someone is being shady(which doesn't sound like it in this case), but mainly it's not advised because of the issues for the buyer either because it can bork up your purchases as well.

Yeah but why did he keep both the NMTs and judy? If there was an autosave, either i have judy and nmts, or just judy if autosave happened after i dropped the nmts

Yeah I have no idea why her price bumped up so much, last time I checked she was at 100 NMTs.

like i said, bad, bad things can happen... game had to choose who got what and he got the goods. i only go between my hubby's place and mine, but i make sure i always use the airport even though it is a pain, because i know about the issue and sure i trust him lol... but no sense is screwing up either island.

Yah, I don't even try to play around with the - button when island hopping, visiting friend islands, when others are visiting me, seemingly there's a bad mojo with said button when combined with airports.
