I've been thinking about this a lot lately!

If they add more "types" of villagers based on a basic personality type, what kind(s) would you like to see included in future games?

I would love for there to be a Shy type, who would be kind of awkward and sweet and have difficulty socializing but still try to do so and gradually warms up to your character (as well as other villagers). This would probably be female based, but to be honest, I'd love to see them mix it up and let both male and female villagers have the same personality type.

I'd also love to see a Geek type. I think it would be really fun to have a geeky villager. I'd get along famously with them! Again, I think it should be open to both male and female.

And just for the female side of things, I'd love to see a Tomboy type. It could be a lot of fun mixing up the common gender roles. Likewise for feminine-ish guys, but some of the Smugs do kind of fit that mold.

As a side note to this thread: Please don't take offense to the types that might be discussed here! It's all fictional and not meant to label anyone for having any type of personality.

I would love a geeky type! I'm already trying to force that personality on my lazy villager Deli. I changed his greeting to Allons-y (a Doctor Who reference). This time around we got two new personalities, (Smug and Uchi), it's not impossible that we'll get more new personalities in the future.

Good Idea, I really like the shy personality. It would add more depth to the befriending process, geek/nerd is also a good one, they can be like really smart

Yeah, that's a good point. : ) It's entirely possible! (Maybe even probable, given that they'll want to keep adding new things to garner interest in the new games.) And it is cool that we can set up things like that with catchphrases and greetings, but there's not a lot of space, so we can get at least "limited geeky" with it. A couple of mine have cartoon references and even internet memes. Hahaha.

The thing is, I really like the fact the AC is so simple. I don't want there to be too many aspects (e.x. growing vegetables, too many different species, etc.) If there were too many things to keep up with, it wouldn't be as fun.

BUT... if I had to have another personality type, it would be shy.

I think Shy would be a really good male personality type, since there aren't really any soft-spoken male personalities and Normal sort of fulfills that role for the females.

Nerdy could go either way though I'd prefer it for females if it were gender-exclusive, since there isn't really anything like that for girls while you could make a case for Smugs/Lazies for the guys.

Uchis are basically Tomboys though aren't they?

I agree! I'd like there to be a bit more to friendship building and it would be cool if that varied depending on how friendly/outgoing said villager type was. It really makes you feel accomplished when you've befriended someone who isn't easy to befriend (I feel that way with a lot of Harvest Moon games. They really make you work for it, but it feels great once you gain hearts with townspeople.)

I think Sporty and Nerdy would be nice types.

I'd love to see both of those, especially if Sporty were for females, since guys already have Jocks. : )

That's true. Part of the beauty definitely is the simplicity. But I think that by adding a few more personality types, they could eliminate the repetitiveness that comes with having multiple villagers of the same type who often say the same things. That's just my take on it, though!

I really wish they'd just take out the gender types and mix it up so that males and females can be all types. If they don't, though, I'd be happy to see either shy for girls OR for guys. Same with Geeky/Nerdy. They're the types that can really go either way (although arguably, so can all the current types, lol).

Hm, well, they could sort of be taken that way, but I had Flo and Fuchsia in my town and neither one ever really stood out to me as tomboyish. They reminded me more of punk rockers, actually. XD Everyone has their own opinion, though!

How about bold? Or sassy?

I'd love both of those, too! Sassy I suppose is kind of similar to the Snooty/Uchi in some aspects, but I'd like to see it become a thing of it's own. I'm not all sure what bold would entail, but I'd be interested in hearing more if you want to elaborate.

Troublemaker? Artist? Thinker? I have so many more. Thinker would imply, thinking a lot, not necessarily nerd. Creative, get's along well with artists. Quiet and reserved, it would take awhile to befriend this type of villager. Artist and Troublemaker speak for themselves.

Troublemaker is a brilliant idea. Welcome to the town of Thugsville.
I want this to happen now. c:

I love the idea of Artist and Troublemaker! I bet artists would have their houses filled with Redd's paintings. Haha. And Troublemaker sounds wonderfully mischievous! It would be interesting to have a type of villager that isn't strictly friendly (as even Grumpy types are pretty friendly). I bet there would be a lot of fun dialogue with those types! Great idea!

Hahaha, Thugsville. XD But I agree, it would be a load of fun and put an interesting spin on things with a villager that isn't just nice in some way.

Uh how about that neighbor... you know, the one like Flanders from the Simpson's. Friendly, neighborly?

Speaking of that, it might be interesting that if you let someone move in next to your house, they call you neighbor and make neighborly visits and such. It works as a personality type, too, though.

In this case, we should have lazy females and peppy males! Basically allow the personalities to be for ANY gender!
