I play Animal Crossing pretty casually, and haven't messed much with time traveling. I've had the same lineup of villagers since last summer, most of which were random move-ins that I decided to go with the flow on. I think it's time for me to say goodbye to a few friends and TT them out in order to put in some villagers I've always really wanted, but I'm not even really sure to begin. I'm also very nervous, I would be really heartbroken if I lost a villager I loved a lot.
Any help would be appreciated!

Welcome to the world of TTing, it can ruin your ACNL life but once you start it's very hard to go back. Where would you like to begin?

TTing is risky. There are good guides in the fourms (one is stickied if im not mistaken) but if you are careful tting out villagers is easy.
Never go more than 3 days is solid advice i can give

Then again, this is from examined experience, TTing is dumb imo and is also cheating imo, plus if i ever lost cube or twiggy life would be over so i dont tt

The guide I use!

This method is the safest and I'm paranoid so it's my highness. It is however the most tedious as well (though I was filling catalogue along the way as well so I didn't mind) so remember the grace periods you can skip after preventing a moveout or moving a villager out! I've had no casualties so far, except in plot resetting which is in the same vein to me but a whole other thing.

Some tips for cycling villagers:

- Camp move ins are hilariously hard to get to ping, so camp is a very good buffer and is techincally your main source to grab villagers you want since it's very controllable
- Turn off streetpass to avoid uncontrolled move ins (esp after 9)
- Build pwps where you do not want the random villagers to plop their houses down on

Basically, I'm looking for the best way to get some villagers in boxes while not accidentally booting out the wrong villagers!

If I lost Cube I would be CRUSHED and probably restart π–π Anyone else I would probably get over it, but...I have to protect Cube while doing this π–π
The reason I generally don't TT is because I'm afraid of losing villagers and I am patient/don't mind waiting and playing day by day. I don't know if I'd call it "cheating?" I think people can play games however they see fit and enjoy most, as long as they aren't ruining other people's experience (for example, I'm a bit sour about people that hack impossibly good Pokemon and then fight people online because it's just unfair).

Thank you!! I am paranoid so this is exactly what I needed.
I know a bit about plot resetting but I've never done it/I've had phenomenally dumb luck with where my animals decided to put themselves. It would be super ideal if I could get new villagers in the old villagers exact spots, but I'm open to a lot of places.
Omg I'm really afraid of random move-ins. I'm going to an anime convention this weekend so I have to make sure I'm at ten before the weekend because I want to streetpass >__>

EDIT: Ok, so I've read this guide very carefully, and I am a little bit confused on about time traveling backwards. Because yes, it seems that this will shoot me far into the future but I'm a little confused on the risks of time traveling in reverse huge amounts? Are there certain safe days to travel to? Does time traveling backwards any amount always count as just one day? Sorry for these newb questions >__>;;

Alright, so tting backwards just counts as one day, and is safe to do as long as nobody is thinking about moving. So THEORETICALLY, if I play one day, and someone tells me they are moving and I stop them, could I then TT backwards a massive amount?

YEPP NO PROBLEM =D but my advice is really TT day by day and be truly careful. After 3 days, nobody ping? SPAM THEM!! and to be sure nobody ping only go forward another day =) since you re new so don't use any funky method you not familiar with~ just go day by day =D

I have one more question! Can I avoid going forward huge amounts of time by going one day forward, one day back, one day forward, one day back etc??

I used this guide and it worked well. I went 3 days ahead, then back to real time. Usually someone pinged. If you have villagers you want to keep, its a pain in the butt, but it wasnt too bad as i just watched tv in the background while doing it, ha, ha. But yeah, it can take a long time.

LOL I was going to link this user to the guide! <3 ty! c:

In the guide you linked, it advised people not to do the "2 day forward 2 day backwards" method because it will screw up their games, in my opinion, that is in fact wrong. I mean it can screw up your game and it is unsafe ... but only if it is not done correctly. The "2 day forward 2 day backward method" is not safe only if you do not do it right. It's like a pattern. You have to find out who is moving first, get them to ping and then tell them to stay (unless its a villager you want out) and then start the 2 day forward 2 day back method, so it is in fact quite safe if done correctly, and it has been confirmed to get working results!

Because I am new and deeply afraid of goofing up, I went forward one day at a time and was table to TT out a villager. Once someone came and picked him up, I TT'd back to real time. Woo!

I meant to ask though, instead of just going forward many days and having to jump back a large amount, going forward one day and then back one day and so on would work the same way, right?

LOL the one day forward each time is the safest way to go for TT starters! <3 glad you were able to TT someone out. c:

well technically, going forward one day and then back will technically count as 2 days in the game as everytime you go back it counts as one day?
So I think it's better to keep going forward and then go back a large amount ^~^
