So it took me quite awhile to achieve my first blue rose in my town. I had been using the standard hybrid red method that I read about online to obtain it. Black roses were one possible offspring, and I had quite a bit of them over this period of attempts. After finally getting the blue rose, I placed some of the black roses leftover on their own little section on the beach, and one day I walk down to see this:

Two black roses made a blue one. This is a thing?? Mind you it took only a month after placing the black roses there for this to spawn. They are separate from any other rose colors on the beach. All this time searching, and then I get one by accident .-.'

So what do you guys think? Was this already a viable method to getting a blue rose? Has anyone else had this happen?

wow!! seems like a total wildcard! i've had a garden of black roses for months now, going on a year, i've never grown a blue rose! weird :o

Right? I'm wondering if it has to do with the genetics of the hybrid red parents maybe?

That seems to be the case. Some hybrid tend to spawn other colored hybrids, depending on the traits of the parental flowers. Recently, my orange cosmos began spawning pinks and my black tulips were spawning purple.

That is interesting. It amazes me how in-depth this game is with hybrid genetics. I love it tho, hybrid breeding is one of my favorite aspects of the game

That's interesting, I've had a garden of black roses in a checkerboard pattern for breeding for a while now and never got a blue rose.

It took me about 6 weeks to get three purple pansies from scratch though. I was determined to cultivate them myself rather than get them from someone else.

It must have been their hybrid red parents for those blue roses. It's so worth it to get them yourself, I agree. A bit like shiny pokemon hunting. There's always tt-ing for those who don't have those months to a year of time.
