Need tips on GAR

I'm hunting a Gar and Saddled Bichir, but whenever I find a huge shadow it's the Arapaima. On top of that I haven't seen a single shadow that comes close to a Gar in the river pool. There's only Catfish. It's the only circular piece of the river so I doubt I'm searching in the wrong place. Catching a Tarantula was much easier than this...

Month: September 13th, 21:00-23:59 hours.

Btw. Saddled Bichir is a fat shadow right and not a skinny long one like the Eel.

I wish I remembered more about my fish - but the eel is the only skinny thing. I just searched around and saw several people mention that the saddled bichir was more the size of a black bass. I did use save and continue to reset the fish while I was hunting the string fish as I recall. Perhaps you can speed up the arrival of your fish this way.

Wow........... seriously! Saddled Bichir is a medium shadow. I've found 3 already.

Just need a Gar now. Yey~

Well, I kinda struggled with the Gar too.. I just kept on reseting until I eventually caught the gar... took me quite a while, and it was frustrating to catch a lot of arapaimas too ) But today, I wasn't looking for it and I got one... I heard it's not supposed to be a rare fish so yeah..

Thank you for the suggestion. I've been checking there many times but all I find are small shadows belonging to the Catfish. I've caught several. According to a youtube video the Gar is supposed to be very large, similar to most big fish.

I figure Save+Quit is equal to Save+Continue, or entering a house. I found all other fish that way.

Btw. What time and date did you catch them?

Hi, I saw your message and I replied.. but yeah, I never got to answer the time.. I caught my first Gar at around 10pm, and then this morning, I caught another one at 7am so yeah.. According tot he guide i saw, you'll find it from 4pm-9am, but I guess it's easier if you try at later times because some fish don't spawn at night

I remember it being a really big shadow so any big shadows just catch those. It's pretty obvious too, they're huge. I also usually catch them more when the sun is completely down and the illuminated stuff starts shining too so around 6-7ish and later. At the lake is obviously where you need to go but just have patience. It is actually a pretty rare fish in comparison to some others. Are you actually in September as well though? Just making sure you know since it's November and your time for catching them is over if you aren't.

I've stayed in August for the spider, been cathing fish ever since to make sure I got them all.
I'll try fishing past 4am, hope most fish are gone then.

Many more Catfish and Black Bass, but 0 Gar.
