Need help deciding on next 3DS game to get

Okay so I'm currently trying to decide between these 3 games, I want them all eventually but can only get 1 for right now. Mario Kart 7 looks like a blast but I'm worried about the controls, I've never played a kart racer on a handheld before, has anyone played it? Does it control okay? I did research on both Super Mario 3D land and New Super Mario Bros 2 and they both look like really good platformers. I can't decide what to get, I would love some recommendations

New Super Mario Bros 2: Better on Wii U.
Super Mario 3D Land: Better on Wii U.

If you don't have a Wii U, then Mariokart.

Mario Kart 7's controls are smooth and really didn't come off as annoying to me. If you've played Mario Kart before, chances are you'll enjoy 7. Personally, I'd recommend Super Mario 3D Land over New Super Mario Bros. 2, since I honestly found NSMB2 to be a bit mediocre.

From the options, my personal opinion would be "neither" simply because all the Mario titles on 3DS seemed rather uninspired and bland (save for the Mario & Luigi title, and Luigi's Mansion 2) - but out of the options there, Mario Kart 7 would be the best. SM3DL was just plain tedious and NSMB2 - while a bit better - wasn't MUCH better. In all honesty, if you want to try a NSMB title, you're better off getting the original, on DS. (Which will play on a 3DS)

(Though Smash Bros / Kid Icarus / Fire Emblem / Rune Factory / Monster Hunter / Animal Crossing trumps these titles in every way anyway ;U )

Mario Kart 7 is the best choice out of those three. Online is still remotely actively, not like it was before Mario Kart 8, but you'll still fine people to play with.
I would suggest playing in any of the groups and try weekends.

Ya they looked fun, they didn't look terribly amazing. I played and beat Mario&Luigi Dream Team and it was amazingly fun, probably my favorite 3DS game so far, so after that I'm in the mood for more Mario lol, hence the Mario titles I am currently trying to decide between.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I'm gonna trust my fellow Bell Tree users opinions and go with Mario Kart 7, that seems to be what most of you are recommending. It looks really fun I'm just worried about the controls on a handheld but hopefully I'll get the hang of them. Hope to see some of you online

Mario Kart 7, while short lived if all you do is single player, can be really fun online. In my opinion it has slightly better courses than 8.

NSMB2 on the other hand has a lot of levels and the challenge of getting all star coins, but after that there isn't much else besides coin rush.

I would go for Super Mario 3D Land, it's a really good game for the 3DS and I really enjoyed it. I'd give new super mario bros 2 a pass and consider buying MK7 if you had a second choice though; really fun online sessions and great fun all around

I would either get Super Mario 3D Land, or Mario kart 7, they are both fun games.
