[Need advice!] So tempted to get another copy of ACNL....

What I was thinking is I can use the other copy if I want to reset my town and move my villagers there. I believe I wont be able to do it if I have the downloaded version and the cartridge in 1 console ?
You can get someone to hold your stuff & villagers..
That is a lot of money for Animal crossing... but if you would like to have another DS, go for it! I have a regular 3DS, but I might buy an XL later so I can have one for travel, and one at home. If I do that, I'll probably buy another AC cartridge to cycle or whatever. I don't think you should buy another console JUST for AC.

You can always ask somebody on here to hold your items for you! There are a lot of trustworthy people on here, I assume. From what I've seen the community here is really nice and I'm certain that somebody will help you if you ask!
If you just want to reset and move villagers, don't get a new copy, just get someone to hold your stuff.
It's a waste of money if you'll just use it for that, if and you REALLY want a second copy, then buy it used.

I have three copies and one DS.
I'm heavily contemplating getting a second 3DS because I not only have the ****ty launch one and would like an XL, but honestly, having people hold and then TT villagers out is a goddamn nightmare. In my experience, anyway. It's not that people aren't trustworthy, it's that my guys NEVER PING, and it causes severe problems. All of my copies are physical; I'd never get a digital copy due to disliking the loading time on the home screen, and now I've just heard digitals are more susceptible to corrupt save files.
So. If you really want it, go for it. I was even contemplating getting a fourth copy as strictly a cycle town, since the first three house my dreamies.
So do whatever you feel comfortable with! And keep in mind, used copies are barely even two dollars less. So no use there.

Woah 3 copies! I dont have a friend who own a DS so when I tell them I was thinking of getting a 2nd copy they look at me as if i am crazy but they dont understand how addictive this game is *^* But thank you so much! Your reply is so helpful to me!
You could try getting a used 3ds and game. It'd be cheaper than buying a new one. I'm planning on getting a new 3DS XL and second copy, but I'm also sharing it with my mom since she's been wanting one since I got mine. I wouldn't buy new if it weren't for that.

I'm glad I could help, sweetheart! I know how it is to not have any friends. I literally have zero IRL friends anymore since all of mine went out of state off to college XD;;; So I'm stuck relying on people for holding villagers which is a nightmare in itself, transferring items (though that isn't nearly as bad), etc. It's so exhausting. I may just ask for a 3DS XL for my birthday or something, the purple one looks super cute! (Of course I'd love the Pokemon X/Y one but uhhh I'm fairly certain that's unavailable xD)

Thank you everyone for all of your replies!! So after much consideration I have decided to get a 2nd physical copy of ACNL. However i still have some questions:
1. If I play 2 cartridge on 1 3ds, I can have 2 separate towns right ? Or do i need to have an extra SD card?
2. If I TT on my 2nd copy, will it affect the time on my first copy??

Only if you change the ds time and date if you change the time and date in-game you should be fine.
I feel your pain 1 billion percent, all my friends moved away to college as well so people like us have to turn to communities like this for help because we have no alternative. Even tho this community is fantastic it would still be nice to have a friend or two irl you can trust who plays the game also =/. #TheStruggleIsReal

To answer your second question, no as long as you remember the date you were at the last time you played on the first copy. Say you saved and quit on march 20th and then played your 2nd copy and did some TT madness and then when you were done you were at september 20th. As long as you have the date set back to march 20th when isabelle asks you if are you ready to start the game, then you're fine.
