national streetpass weekend

Is anyone taking advantage of the national streetpass weekend in North America?
I was out this morning to my local best buy nintendo zone and got 2 street passes.
No idea where they came from but I plan to go out today and see if I can get a bunch more from different NZ's

you would have to drive to a nintendo zone, any nintendo zone works and you can get passes from all over not just that location so this weekend is the perfect time to take a drive to one

It's snowing today for me, and tomorrow is a Christmas party-type-thing for my family, so no streetpass weekend. Oh well, I have enough streetpasses anyway.

i have my router at home at as "bestbuy" so i can get the presents etc. anyways! i got 14 street passes last night and seven so far this afternoon (its only 2:30pm in nj) so i think if you set your router to bestbuy you could get the street passes as well. for the record i live in the middle of nowhere farmland so i don't think it's some strange coincidence

I guess it's a good thing I'm going to do a little bit of shopping today. I can go to some relay points and get some streetpasses.

However, I can't get anything for NL. I disabled streetpasses for that because I only have 9 villagers and don't want to run the risk of picking anyone up.

so far I went to best buy and got 3 there and mcdonalds and got 1 there. I was only at best buy for 25 minutes and mcdonalds for 5 minutes. I am headed out to the mall and hope to get a bunch while traveling.

I got 1 streetpass but I was only there for 5 minutes...there are 3 mcdonalds near my house and a starbucks...home depot has nintendo zones too, never expected that and I have 2 near my house.

I agree, they need to make this permanent!

How difficult is this to do? Does it mess with your wireless safety or anything? And, is it legal? I don't want to try this and get people tapping into my wifi and getting in deep crap for stealing best buy's mojo or anything kwim?

I haven't got time to do it right now but I told my friends the bestbuy trick worked and they switched over -- they said it immediately started working. I'll definitely do it tomorrow.

jenikinz - this is easy to do if you can access your router's settings; and it doesn't affect your safety settings in any way. Also legal, you can name your SSID whatever you like. No-one will think you are pretending to be Best Buy. There is a really good guide somewhere in the forums, but basically you just need to change your SSID to bestbuy and then connect to it.
