My New Leaf V-Day so far: No roses or cacao tree. :(

So far, I only got one chocolate heart from my smug in the letter, a letter from Isabelle with the chocolate cake and a letter from my mom with some Spring shirt attached. I was expecting to get the cacao tree in the letter and some roses from other male villagers. I spoke to them several times over but nothing. My friendship with all my villagers is quite high so I'm wondering if I'm doing anything wrong or if this is just the way it is.

Ohh i am the same with you xD they will give roses when you talk to them? I didn't know that as none of them mention anything about the events lol~suddenly I feel sad too...

I am not sure actually if they send you the roses in a letter or when you talk to them. But I got none either way... boooo.
And I send all my villagers letters almost daily and talk to them all the time. So yeah. A little disappointing.

As far as I know, one villager of the opposite sex will send you a letter with either a pink or purple rose OR a chocolate heart (I believe when you have a higher friendship level, you get the chocolate heart). Your mom sends you a shirt OR a cacao tree. The item you didn't get from mom (in your case, the cacao tree), you will get the next year.

My alt character just received a cacao tree (no letters from villagers obviously because I don't speak to them with the mule). Anyway, yay.

Awww... you're very kind but it's fine. I have one chocolate heart and three chocolates cakes (two that my Mayor and alt got and a 3rd that I bought a while ago from the Re-Tail board).

I can't say for sure that is how it works for everyone under all circumstances, but all my characters in my three towns only received one villager valentine each. Glad you got the cacao tree with your alt! It's really pretty IMO
