My island is three stars, and i have paths everywhere, and like no good spots for anything, i wanted to reset, but i spent all this time on a rock garden and have like, no will to do it again. what is your best suggestion?

If you're feeling uninspired and the idea of resetting is more draining than invigorating, then you might be feeling burnt-out. My best suggestion would be to take a break from the game for a while, honestly. Fresh eyes might help you see things you genuinely like vs things you are forcing yourself to like because they took a long time to make.

I agree with the others- take a break for a while. While you're on that break think about what you're looking to do with your islands. When you feel more ready, watch some tours online or even just logon to visit a few dream addresses for inspiration.

Sorry for the late responses, I had class. I feel like taking a break my make it worse, weeds will grow, and more work will had to be done. If you do, are there any other ideas?

i recommend you play something else for a while or take a break from sw all together (like others are saying )
or ,, visit some cool islands and get inspiration !! ive seen a danny devito island before ,,,,,

i dont have a firm grasp of the situation you're in so i might not be giving you the best suggestion, but if you dont want to take a break, i suggest you take a moment to envision what kind of landscape or scenery you would like to see on your island, while keeping it feasible to avoid resetting. its good to have a certain goal in mind that would motivate you to pursue it. also, to not overwhelm yourself with the amount of work to do, start on a small area and continue from there area by area, imagining everytime how you would like that area to become. and dont overly plan if thats not your kind of thing. go with your feeling.

A rock garden is a HUGE accomplishment - I’ve been really struggling with rocks myself, so be proud of that!

If you don’t want to take a break, my advice is to focus on entrance, terraforming, paths, stores, then houses, in that order. I used Happy Home Designer to plan everything out, which also helped a lot!

Then, take all the items on your island and put them into storage and on the beaches. Work from the front onwards planning your big sections (cafe, rock garden, campsite) first. Place all the beach/storage items out as you go - even if it looks bad in the beginning. I had to force myself to, otherwise I never would’ve started. Then look for custom designs to bring it together.

Just my experience. Happy to discuss via dm - good luck!

If you don't want to start over, I agree with the others to go slow. When I feel fed up with my island, I go around and just collect fossils, pull up weeds, interact with whoever my visitor is, and chat with my villagers when I see them.

Looks like burn-out to me. Take a couple days break and play/do other things.

i forgot to say but if your concern is weeds appearing, they dont appear that fast, so it shouldn't end up giving you that much work to do after taking a break for a few days.

tbh i cant rly relate with ur story because when i was feeling both overwhelmed and uninspired my island was fresh out the island generator (& still kinda is, its been a month and a week since i made it). i wanted to decorate and had so many ideas but i couldnt rly get them to happen the way i wanted to, but i didnt rly want to quit bc that just felt even worse. so i just logged in every day to do my "dailies", like water my flowers for hybrids, give my villagers their gifts, smack my rocks for materials, etc. so perhaps, if u dont want to give up playing altogether, u could focus on other aspects of the games (making bells, collecting resources, getting new villagers, etc.) or just log on to do the daily tasks u want to complete.

i also agree that if ur just feeling stuck on what to do/uninspired with areas u make, looking up dream addresses and visiting them is rly helpful (this is also something i did when i was uninspired). tumblr is the easiest place for me to find interesting dream addresses to visit, but i imagine these forums also have a lot of cool places to check out as well. if u find something u like, i wouldnt necessarily plan on copying the idea 100%; sometimes the ideas people come up with only rly work out for their island and u know everyone's island is different, so.

after a while, i just kind of spontaneously changed up some areas on my island. i was mostly motivated by irl friends who play the game, because lately they've been doing a tiny amount of decorating and pathing. i wanted to catch up to them bc i didnt want to be left behind with a naked island lol. but all the changes i made kind of felt natural in a way. like i already had a theme in my head and have seen some other people's interpretations of it, and after messing around with terraforming i managed to find something that came to me without me trying to force an idea into my head. i also did little changes at a time, like i wasn't juggling a neighborhood and an entrance and decorating a beach, and etc. i just focused on terraforming an entrance then i did a little pathing the next day and found out that my shops could go here and maybe i could put my houses there but i dont wanna do too much in one day, u know? i hope that makes sense oop-

if u absolutely cannot give up actually working on ur island tho, i dont rly know what to tell u. maybe just getting rid of all ur paths in areas ur unsure of/dont rly like may help. maybe just keeping the areas u love and then getting rid of the decorations and buildings in the areas u dislike may help. maybe keeping the basic shape/terraforming of ur island that u have now and then scrapping everything may help. we can only suggest things that may help u if u dont rly know where to start, but the truth is there isnt going to be a singular answer for this. but i hope that with everything i have said (& the things that everyone else has said) can help u find the answer u need.

I have been changing my whole island over and over cause I keep disliking it but taking a few days off and playing other games help :)

My recommendation would be to take a good, close look at your paths and island layout. If you have path everywhere and no place to put stuff, the obvious choice to me would be to find a way to make do with less path, or put decorations along your paths: There are people that do great things with paths + furniture and make outside cafe's or shopping streets.

If you're really happy with the rock garden, and not massively fed up with the features of your map that you can't change (the locations of river mouths, beach rocks, resident services and your airport), I suggest you just start working on small areas at a time. Perhaps work from the rock garden outwards, as the rock garden is currently a thing you're happy with.

You can pick an area and move everything out of it, then start that bit from 'scratch' again, or decide before what you definitely want present in a certain area and keep that around. I've done this a few times, it sometimes really helps me to have an 'empty canvas', though at other times I like keeping stuff around that I definitely do want in the area.

Don't be afraid to move things around. I've had homes that I had in places for months, then decided to move them and I'm really happy with their new locations. Sometimes, just changing the location of a single flower helps me be happier with an area!
