Imbri
Resident Night Mare
As mentioned in the previous post, this is a non-AC blog entry. Yep, I really do have a life outside of Salem.
Last September I started taking fencing lessons. It was something I'd always wanted to try, and I finally found someone who taught. My coach actually has a club elsewhere, but he comes to where I am once a week. It's been a lot of fun and while I'm not fantastic, I am fairly good, so I'm planning to go on with it.
We had the last class until next fall last night. I'm going to be doing a competition in August, so I'll travel to Coach's club every other Saturday during the summer (I work every other weekend). It's a bit of a drive, but I can fence for 3 hours plus get a private lesson, so that should make it worth it.
In preparation for competition, I had to get a second blade; in case something happens to my first one, I have a back-up while it's being fixed/replaced/given a proper burial. I tried the new one out for the first time last night. OMG! It is so much lighter and flexible! I love it! I went and got some PVC pipe for a sheath and covered it in Co-Flex (because a plain PVC pipe is NOT pretty). My other one is red, to match my bag. This one is pink, to match my hair.
The only down-sides to having to travel are that I can't sleep in my Saturday off anymore and summer traffic coming home (I live in a resort area so we get LOTS of traffic on the weekends with people coming over the bridges). Oh, well.
