My room is a huge mess, I cant reach it, or get a ladder in here tonight, as it's high on a vaulted ceiling, it's midnight, and I haven't gotten a good night's sleep since Thursday. It's chirping every 30 seconds, and I want to pull my hair out. Anyone have any tips?
Omg lol that happened to me for half a year when my mother finally contacted the maintenance for the building.
Does yours have a button? (sorry if this is a dumb question but yeah) whenever it beeped I would get a broom and push the button. It stops for 6-8 hours. Hopefully you get someone to change the battery because omgg, I finally got a good night sleep w.o getting a broom & pressing the button.
Oh god I know how you feel. We've had it happen a couple of times where the smoke alarm batteries would start dying, so they'd obnoxiously beep every minute or so to alert you. We didn't have spare batteries, and if you take the batteries out they just start BLARING somehow?? so we had to just deal with it until the maintenance people came. Smoke alarm noises are no joke!! But I guess that's a good thing
Do you have a chair or something you could use to try and switch it off? If you stand on that and then maybe use a pencil or a ruler to reach up and press the button or something if you can. I know it sucks, but if you still can't do that, put on your headphones and listen to music or something, it should start to muffle it out a bit until you can get a ladder!
I've had that before though, I remember the smoke alarm in my old flat used to just chirp randomly at times and often for no reason. It was really sensitive. Even if there was the slightest bit of smoke from the grill, it would suddenly set off. Hated it. :\ But I suppose I'd rather it be too sensitive...
Shove stuff in your ears or sleep under your pillow, like in a pillow sandwich to cover both ears. I do this when my lovely family like to vacuum or mow in the afternoon cause I work night shifts and that's when I sleep...
That happened to me once, we came home from school one day and we had had this leak in the ceiling for a while but that day it was so bad it somehow set off the smoke alarm. And it didn't just chirp. It BEEPED, every THREE SECONDS, and it was SO LOUD. I'm shocked my cat didn't go deaf because their ears can hear a lot better than ours so sounds are louder to them. We called this company to come fix it but they never came. We had to sit outside and we put the cat in the crate and took her outside with us and we sat on the porch it was so bad. We could reach the alarm but it wouldn't turn off for nothing, we removed the batteries and everything. We were gonna go stay at a hotel when my mom gave up and just knocked it down with a broom and it stopped.
Oh that's rough xD will you be fixing it anytime soon?
I think I had a similar situation, but I ended up making it worse trying to fix it only cause more alarms to flare up xD
