OK check this right my cusion is going to the 2and grade this year. My parents always make him read every night when he was in school. Well I was playing around on my game cube and he saw my zelda game wind waker and hes like I wanna play. so im like this wont be good. Because we all know it invoves countless hours of reading which I doubt he had the patince for. Wrong!!!! he loves the game and its really helping his reading skills. It takes him a little while to read the text but he gets it. He comes accors a lot of words he doesnt know how to say or what they mean but i am always there to help him out( no i dont play for him nor give away how to get past obstacles) I try to help him giveing suddle hints with out completley giving away how to do things.
I told my parents about how this was good for his thinking skills and reading skills and showed them how it is alot better then reading books and they was amazed on how well he was reading.

tell me can zelda not solve all of our probloms these days.;p

*Would move to gamers lounge if could*

Anyhoo..

That's pretty cool... I don't think wind waker is a really good reading program.. but, whatever. I guess what ever gets the good grades.

:gyroidmad: At least you can do it contribute to the conversation then just say move it.

This is one of the BIGGEST misconceptions about gaming. People think that gamers can't read and it's stupid. If anything games can help improve people's vocabulary and their ability to read. Look at games like Pheonix Wright, Pokemon, and even Brain Age. All of it involves reading!

Why people are so ignorant to gaming still baffles me. I suppose people still consider it a new media, even though it's been around for over 20 years. Actually a poll was taken in the UK and more parents are worried about their children playing GTAIV than having sex and drugs. I mean come on people, it's just a game!

Woah... kinda went off-topic there. : r

Heh, my friend didn't buy TWEWY just because of the massive amount of reading it requres. He skips ever cutscene/conversation between characters/etc. in any game he plays, and then ends up either asking me for help or using an online guide.

Of course, TWEWY is geared towards an older crowd. But I'm sure most RPGs designed for younger games have just as much talking as others. Just smaller words.

If you let him play Majora's mask he might become a rockstar someday.
