I'm buying more 3ds games (TAKE THAT MY XBOX) but not sure which ones to buy. Any good games that you consider as a must have? :3

I got Smash Bros and Mario Kart because I figured everyone had them, but I honestly rarely play them. I like the Fire Emblem games (specifically Awakening and Echoes). I really liked the Marvel Trading Card game for DS, which was based on the first few sets of the Vs. System TCG. Can’t play that online anymore and the learning curve is STEEP.

Tbh I never played any of the fire emblem. Which fire emblem should I play first?

Awakening seems to be crazy expensive and is way different than the old games. Echoes is a recreation of Fire Emblem...2?

Anyways, they are different but great.

They may not necessarily be "must haves" but there are quite a few "free" to play games on Eshop.

Other than that I personally enjoyed Hyrule Warriors Legends. Depending on whether you like Warriors games, this may or may not be for you. It also may be a disappointment if you already have the Wii U version since it doesn't really change that much. I prefer it over Wii U mostly for the portability.

  • Seeing you like animal crossing, I have to suggest "fantasy life". Its a mix of animal crossing and cute RPG.
  • If you like Harvest Moon, "story of seasons: trio of towns" is supposed to be really good. (the studio behind harvest moon had issues with the publisher who owns the name, so the newer Harvest moon games are just harvest moon by title (and pretty bad), while the actual harvest moon is now called story of seasons.
  • If you like/don?t mind cuteness and enjoy rhythm games, "Project Mirai DX" is very good and addicting. Though it?s not as hard as the Project diva games and the controlls are a bit more challenging because the 3ds buttons aren?t made for this type of game...
  • "Bravely Default" and "Bravely Second" are pretty unique RPGs and the series is 3DS exclusive, I think they are made by the same people who do Octopath traveler for the switch or at the very least an inspiration for that.

Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns
Mario Kart 7
Either one Tetris games
Monster Hunter Generations

Also get Wario Land 3 on the VC, so gud man.

Metroid: Samus Returns
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Super Mario 3d Land
Yoshi's New Island
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
Resident Evil: Revelations
...think there were a couple others but I forget' em.

At the very least, the ones mentioned are games I'VE enjoyed so who knows!

Mario Kart 7 definitely
Super Smash Bros as well are my must haves.

I also reccomend Animal Crossing and Pokemon but those two games are more so for what people are interested in

I thought I would revive this topic. Also, is anyone interested in the notion of trading physical copies 3DS games? Looking for something new to play but don't really want to spend money on them.

Tomodachi Life. It isn't for everyone. I suggest renting it if you can do that before buying the game.
Pokemon X: By far my favorite Pokemon generation. Such an improvement on B&W.
Miitopia: Very fun game, replayed it more times than I can remember. Always so much to do.

No 1.Animal Crossing New Leaf!
It's definitely not for everyone but I love it and am addicted!

Other games I recommend
Mario Kart 7-Racing game
Tomodachi Life-Life Simulation (Similar to ACNL)
Kirby Triple Deluxe-Platformer (Better than Mario in my opinion)
Mario Party Island Tour-Board games and minigame I guess...
Legend of Zelda:A link between worlds-Platformer

Okay, here is my top ten (my personal opinion and taste!)

1. Fantasy Life - really cute game, lots to explore and do (picking up 12 different lifes like fisher, paladin, alchemist, woodcutter, miner etc- You can either play only one life or chose them all!). That game is beyond charming, I enjoyed the story and the quests. the characters...this game is one of the most underrated 3DS games imo!

2. Rune Factory 4 - similars reasons like fantasy life. I like the rpg/ farming cross over. I'm biased bc I love Harvest Moon / Story of Seasons/ the Rune Factory franchise :D

3. Ever Oasis - gives me slight TLOZ vibes. Also, great story and amazing soundtrack!

4. Pok?mon Sun/ Moon/ UltraSun/ UltraMoon- love the tropical setting but not a fan of the too linear gameplay

5. ACNL - for obvious reasons! :D

6. TLOZ- Link between world- Idk, I just enjoyed playing it a lot I guess!

7. Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies- a detective game. lots to read but GREAT dialogues and cool characters. I love the entire series and I prefer Dual Destinies over Spirit of Justice.

8. Story of seasons- I love both games (there are 2 currently). There is so much to do and I'm a sucker for cheesy dating sims xD

9. Yokai-Watch!! Both games again. I love its whackiness and how much japanese culture its showing.

10. Kirby Triple Deluxe - So much to discover and a great platformer

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate - if you like a challenge, want something that you can easily get a hundred hours or more out of, if you're looking for something with great (and I mean great) online/local co-op multiplayer. If I were to buy the 3DS for one game it'd be this.

Kid Icarus Uprising - fun shooter and hack n'slash. Feels like a proper old-school game but with nicer graphics. Just be prepared to say goodbye to your right shoulder button if you plan on playing a bit of multiplayer.

Bravely Default - A nice JRPG, looks quite nice, although it can get tiresome with the amount of grinding to get to the end of the game. It may be an idea to go for the second game in the series, I've heard they've made improvements on it from the first.
