Murakami

So I just read Murakami's story "super-frog saves tokyo" from After the Quake and wowowowowow I think I might be in love.
I read this as an assignment, so I don't have the whole book. Would anybody who has read it suggest that I buy it? Are there any other Murakami books I should check out?

Omg, yes Haruki Murakami is one of my favorite authors (and not just 'cause he's from Japan, lol)

Yes, get that one.. Get all his books

Norwegian Wood. Pretty much his most famous one and also one of my favorites.
1Q84. The trilogy is really well-written without getting too detailed and the story is a very ambitious work of his. Go read them all.
Underground: The Tokyo Gas Attack and the Japanese Psyche - A non-fiction book dealing with the sarin gas attack on the Tokyo underground, interviewing both victims and members of the cult doing it. Really good.
Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World - Probably his most surreal work, demands your concentration but will reward you handsomely.

I've yet to read after the quake or his newest Tazaki book but I will do when I get the chance (and money).

(also I didn't know his first name was Haruki lol I got really confused for a second because I have a friend with that name and was like ???? How do you know him????? My brain completely skipped over the Murakami part for some reason?)

Love love love love Murakami! The Wind Up Bird Chronicle might be my favorite book of all time. It takes magical realism to another level. The only book by him that I didn't enjoy was Kafka On the Shore. I waited so long for it to come out but it seemed like such a retread of his previous books and themes. I have some friends who hold it in high regard though.

Other favorites: Hard Boiled Wonderland, The Elephant Vanishes, Wild Sheep Chase

I think that'd be a good intro to him. His short stories are varied but he has a very distinct style. After you read The Elephant Vanishes you should dive into one of his novels.

I prefer his longer works rather than his short stories, but I've always been more of a novel reader so that's me ^_^

If you can get his rat trilogy, do read it.

What kind of sad was it? Like, silent/hiccupy tears or whole body strain tears?
