Multiple Save Files = More Mayors?

Hey guys,

I keep seeing players with towns that'll have like three people in them. One mayor and two other "people". I know this grants them up to three houses. My question is, what does this do in your game? Do the additional two people act like your villagers? Can you toggle between them and play as different people whenever you want? Can you have conversations with them? What is the benefit of having two additional people? Is it just to be able to dress them and to decorate their homes? Or are there other benefits???

I know I asked so many questions and any and all answers would be greatly appreciated!

The biggest (and possibly ONLY) reason people have multiple characters in their towns is to hold QR code patterns for paths and such.

That's the only reason I have 'em anyway.

They can't really have conversations or anything, but you could send letters to the other player-made characters.

the "other" human villagers cannot make any decisions regarding the town nor do they act as a second mayor. unfortunately your mayor can't interact with them either because when you enter their homes they will not be there. and yes, you can decorate your "other" human villager's home and buy them clothes, ect. I have two human villagers because when I first started playing new leaf my husband wanted to play. He made an account and enjoyed fishing and helping me put bells towards public works projects. The second human villager is my lil niece and she liked interacting with the animal villagers. I guess there is no real direct benefit to the mayor other than holding QR codes or if you want to design another home.

So they are playable, just not at the same time! and are basically npc. I finally get it now! thank you!!

Yeah it's not the best done feature in the game. They're literally just good for storage and pattern holding. I really think they could be done better and at least have them walking around as some zombie or something when you're playing as a different character. I hate making alts because it just feels like they don't really exist.

I have 3 additional human characters in 2 of my towns. I use them for storage but I also like decorating their home interiors and exteriors. My additional characters only have one room in their homes, but I eventually will expand so I can use more of
my stored furniture series.

I'm waiting to remake my 4th character (have to get and plot reset my last villager), but I like having all 4 characters because the additional houses really help to fill space, I like earning badges on more than one character, I like decorating multiple houses, I have tons of extra storage for making clothing designs, and I like having different looking characters :3 Plus earning monthly interest on more than one character is nice.

I have two extra characters in my towns. I use them for storage, but I also decorate and expand their houses. I also use them to check if one of my villagers are trying to move on me because using my main character is useless at times.

I only use the 4th human character slot to check if one of my villagers aren't in boxes or plot reset (but I don't use the first one often)

yep you can play them but you dont get any mayor abilities like pwps and such
i usually use them for extra qr code storage or to put their house in a weird empty space of land i have somewhere
