Multiple ores

Can you only get multiple ores with the silver shovel?

The gold one gave only bells so far.

I think so yes, I tried for about a week with the golden one and I wouldn't get ores as well. I'm guessing it's only the silver shovel that does this.

Probably just like the golden axe doesn't regularly give rare stumps like the silver one does.
