Hi there, just wondering if it's possible to play multiple animal crossing games on one system (ex: downloaded ACNL & cartilage ACNL)? If so would I be able to time travel (using cartilage ACNL) with a downloaded ACNL also on the system? I thought I read somewhere that if you tt your game could mess up. Hopefully this isn't too confusing. ;-;

I have a cartridge acnl and a digital one, and so far neither has affected the other in any way, and I time travel and reset all the time. you should be fine!

You can have multiple games on one system. There are ways to TT without messing your game up, but you have to be careful. Obviously, having a second copy of the game is convenient for time traveling with reckless abandon, but you can get by with one copy.

Okay, thanks! I want to start working on hybrids and cycling but I don't want to ruin my main town. It seems like it should be fine though. :)

I have two carts and a digital all on one, so yeah. It's possible. Not for two digital copies though I don't think.

You could either have one digital copy and one physical copy. Or if you want to buy more than one physical copy, then yes. There is a way of getting multiple towns onto one physical cartridge by dumping the save file(s) of each town, but that's probably considered as hacking here.

The only way (that I am aware of) that TTing on one system with multiple copies is if you change the internal clock, not the in-game clock. Changing the in-game clock will only impact the cartridge you are playing on at the time, changing the internal clock (without changing it back before loading a new cartridge) will impact all games.

I have three physical copies and one digital copy with two 3DSes and haven't had any issues swapping between em all when only using the in-game clock.

Yeah, there should be no problem with using either a digital and physical or two physical. My friend has a cycle town and it works great for her!
@badcrumbs- I've always TT'ed using the internal clock! I didn't realize people did that with the actual game clock. It's always useful for me because I can see when I last played using the activity log.

The activity log doesn't work if you have a lot of copies. There is only one ACNL log and it's for all the games combined. They should have added 2 or 3 logs for each ACNL game.
I use the in game clock and I have 2 digital and come physical copies. No problems with either.

I knew that part, I just never thought of really using the in game clock because it wouldn't record the date I tt'd on. I'm surprised they didn't include one log for each game cartridge. That really would've been helpful.

I have three real towns and one cycle town between two systems (1 cart and 1 download per system) and if I'm doing minor tt like in my real towns I use the system clock and I'm careful to only focus on one town as I'm doing it (I occasionally take a break from one town or another by waiting for a day when someone pings to move and I decline them then I just won't load that town til I'm ready to play it again however long that is) then always come back to real time which I usually play in unless I'm setting up villagers or something.
My cycle town I exclusively tt using the game clock so it never impacts my other game on that system, I use the notes feature to keep track of the date I should set it to when I load so even if a few days pass between times that I'm cycling I can pick up exactly where I left off.
Game notes definitely makes tt and multiple games much easier to keep track of. As long as you're on top of your dates you should be fine. I've never once lost a villager in two years of play, and I tt with abandon and have had multiple towns from almost as soon as I first got the game.

As long as you stick to the internal clocks of the games and not the console's you'll be fine. The ACNL time is dependent off of the system time.
