edit: For both the WiiU and 3DS versions! Pricing scheme:
WiiU $29.99 / €29.99 / ?24.99
3DS version $19.99 / €19.99 / ?17.99

The game has excellent reviews too, so I think I might pick it up :) Only downside is that there is no multiplayer over the internet unless you connect to the wiiu....this is fixed for mh4 though!

Anyone else looking to pick it up? :)

I already own the game, and I think it's wonderful. I've only played single player, and yet I've managed to pour over a hundred hours into it, making it my second most-played game on my system. I pretty much only stopped playing because of New Leaf (though if MH4 isn't localized any time soon, I'll probably try and get back into it...)

There's a demo out in the eShop for whoever's interested; just note that it's only representative of one aspect of the game, and because it slaps you right into the middle of a mission, it does a poor job of introducing new players to the series. It's a pretty good way of getting a handle of the controls, though, which seems to be what catches people off-guard.

Okay so I heard that some people (Gallows, I can't remember who else) a while back were really into it and I never saw any gameplay but oh my god I have to get this now

Did you play with a circle pad pro? I had trouble controlling the character with a demo, but I heard the demo isn't a good representation of the game, and that a CPP really helps.

I use the on-screen D-pad, mainly because I'm too cheap to buy a CPP for one game. I managed to progress through the game fine without it, though. The targeting feature definitely helps. I suspect that the CPP will be most useful in underwater battles.

Also, in the game itself, you're able to control the size and position of the on-screen D-pad relative to the little box it's in to make it easier to reach.

Meh. I hoped the 3DS WiiU Monster Hunter would be a new game, but it was just the Wii one again...

And yes the demo is not a good representation for the game at all.

It is quite hard, I could not get past the Barroth in either of my two playthroughs. Qurapeco was a bit annoying too.

I'd say the Barroth is probably the first big hurdle to jump through in the game because you need to have upgraded your weapon to green sharpness at that point, otherwise your attacks just end up bouncing off the mud. It and the Qurupeco are also the first real monsters where you have to keep an eye out for tells and attack patterns so you know the best times to attack. The Arzuros and Great Jaggi are generally more forgiving in that case.

Agreed, Arzuros was a pushover. I never managed to get a weapon with that level of sharpness, probably explains why barely any attacks seemed to actually do anything but bounce off.
