Bells
4,240
The money rock is random sometimes. Sometimes I get all the bells and other times I end up one short.

I press the A button and sometimes it just won't respond. It has nothing to do with pressing the button too fast.

Anyone else have the same problem?

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the rock can spurt out up to 16,100 bells. The bells come in stacks of 100, 200, 300, 500, 1,000, 2,000, 4,000, and finally 8,000 bells. If struck by the Silver Shovel, the Money Rock may sometimes produce Ore instead of Bells. On rare occurance, the money rock may produce 200, 300, 500, 1000, 2000, 4,000, 8,000 and possibly 16,000 totaling up to 32,000 bells instead of 16,100 bells, which is the max a normal money rock may produce. You will not hear the One-Up sound until the rock drops the ore or more than 1,000 bells. Usually you would hear four One-Up sounds, but instead you hear only five. It is unknown what causes this (It was reported happening with a Silver Shovel, but it's unknown if this really affects it.)

Is what i found

That's not what I mean.

I mean do you guys also have trouble getting all the bells from the money rock? The B button being unresposive at times, while hitting the money rock?

I have the same problem sometimes. I'll hit the button to hit the rock at the right time but my character won't hit the rock, so I have to press the button again and it registers as me being slower (how much money you get depends on how quickly you press the button). It's annoying.

Apparently I have this problem and I didn't even know it! I thought the bell rock only gave out 8000 bells this whole time! ;n; Guess I need to work on my rock hitting!

This isn't a guaranteed method, but I find I have a bit more success getting that final bag of bells a tad more often if I have something to brace myself against. Where possible, I plant a couple of bushes (or a tree and a bush) one square away from the rock, so I don't get pushed as far from the rock while I'm smacking at it (and so I don't need to keep moving back up to the rock). Digging holes behind yourself before you start hitting the rock can also work. Again, it isn't a sure-fire success, as sometimes I too feel as though the A button isn't responsive, but at least it makes me feel better! ;)

Here's what I do:
Find a rock
Make sure there's 8 spaces free around the rock
Dig 2 holes around one corner of the rock (there's still 8 free spaces)
**I think it's easier if you dig one hole going to the north and the other on the East or West.
Start hitting!!!

I know this is basically the same exact thing that the person before me said, but I'm just making sure you get the details. ;)
