Money/Ore Rock

I have the Silver Shovel and occasionally my Money Rock spits out ore. However, what is the benefit of having ore come out rather than money? It doesn't seem to have a large impact on my bells as there is usually a small difference between full Money Rock (all 16,100 bells) and Ore Rock (18,000-ish). I guess every increase is a good one, but it seems like so little. Not to mention, it takes quite a bit of space out of your inventory.

Ore can be used to change the color of some furniture at re-tail.
Other than that I'm not aware of other uses

Yeah, I knew about that, but it takes a ton of ore to do so, and I'd rather avoid that.

then there's nothing else really to do but sell.
If you're lucky and save them up you might get ore as the item of the day at retail and get more out of selling them
