MKDD Game Disc can't be read fix?

I got Mario Kart Double Dash for Christmas, and I've been having trouble.

The Red License Plate of Doom.

I've been trying to make it work since 7:00 PM, and my Wii doesn't want to play it. The furthest I've gotten to is the intro for Luigi Circuit. Any help?

First, buy Clorox disinfecting wipes and clean the optical side of the disc. If that doesn't work, try to see if it is the Wii causing the problem. Wii consoles made after May 2010 are not compatible with GameCube and one's that are made before then are now starting to have disc reading issues.

My suggestion if all that fails is to try to find an actual GameCube to play Double Dash on. GameCubes are going pretty cheap lately and are easy to find in any thrift or used game store.

That's so strange. MKDD is the one Gamecube game I have that doesn't read on my Wii.
