I post every now and again or ask a question about something AC:NL related. I'm a little bugged at how it's supposed to bring 3DS players together and yet we can't exchanged friend codes. I thought that was what playing together meant but I suppose that's not Nintendo's intention.

When I first updated, I was genuinely excited at the prospect of meeting new NL players and visiting new towns. The first 20 posts or so were people looking to connect to other players town's or exchange items, etc by posting their friend codes. But Nintendo quickly brought the hammer down. Now all I see are doodles and people asking how to get around the 'no friend code thing'... lol

It's why I essentially joined this forum, to find other players that are around my age (27 U.U lol) whose vocabulary consists of something other than expletives and the word 'n00b'... xD But yea, so does anyone use it or browse it? What are your thoughts on it and does it effect your gameplay at all, like asking for help on something?

I look at it every now and then, check out what doodles and screengrabs there are but thar's about it. I guess the friend code restriction is just to protect the younger DS users, which I assume Nintendo thinks it's main market is. I know there are a fair few older users too, I guess it's just up to forums like these to bring us together. Miiverse seems to be just a bit of fun, a Letter Box replacement that they can keep better eyes on.

Nintendo has gotten WAY too strict on internet restrictions. When I got my Wii U, (which was when it came out) I got banned after maybe 2 hours of owning it because I posted my YouTube account. -.- It took them months to unban me and I still hate it because of that. The no-friend code thing is worse than ACC because you can't share them in any matter at all. What I hated even more was when the Wii U first came out, Nintendo blocked really pointless things (like my YouTube account) but NEVER blocked the things that deserved to be blocked. (Inappropriate pictures are the first to came to mind). Also having the 3DS version lacking any kinds of messaging system is what made me mad about them shutting down Swapnote. What if I just want to tell a friend something and NOT make it public? Well, you can't do that unless you and your friends own a Wii U, and I'm the only one of my close friends to own one.

Nintendo's going to be centuries behind at this rate, especially if the report that none of the [core] employees have actually tried the online offerings of Sony or Microsoft. Nintendo takes its family friendly thing seriously, which is why we're doomed to just purchase Nintendo home consoles only for Nintendo games (and the small occasional third party game).

I know!! I thought it was rather strange. I mean, the 'friend code' thing is incredibly archaic... I can tell friends my Steam ID, Gamertag or PS ID in seconds. I have to legit OPEN my DS and find my friend code. xD And restrictions only make things even more difficult to connect. I understand the need to protect the young'ins but come on... There could possibly be a way to cater to each respective age group perhaps? That could possibly give adults the ability to share?

Most of my friends are 25+ and we're the players that will sit and make our towns look like the bee's knees. It's hard to go on Miiverse with the thought in mind that the majority are kids looking for chats. I have met some ok people on MV but to be unable to give out my friend code for fear of being struck by the Mjolnir of Nintendo is such a bummer... :(

I haven't checked it out yet, but this 'no sharing friend codes' thing sounds dumb. I didn't understand the point of it on ACC, and I don't understand the point of it now either - what possible harm is there in sharing friend codes? You need to mutually add each other to have any kind of contact, and even then, the ways you could possibly communicate are severely limited on the 3DS. Maybe I'm not using my 3DS' features to it's full potential, but I really can't see any way how shared friend codes can be exploited.

There are some really funny moments on Miiverse between my friends. Here's some:

Going from talking about Amelia to pushing each other off of cliffs. We're so nice to each other.

Nintendo needs to grow up. Yes, you can have a family friendly image, but all families are different >.>
