I find myself falling into a cycle with New Leaf: Get really into it and play all the time --> Play less because of other responsibilities --> Completely abandon my town --> Re-start town and re-start cycle

I've had my current save file for over a year now (My longest time holding one) but I honestly am feeling so stuck and bored with my town? Apart of me just wants to re-start but on the other hand I've literally put so much time and effort into this save file.

Any suggestion for getting back into ACNL and keeping the interest?

i've done the same thing.....i stopped playing for awhile... longest was 8 months or so....busy with real life, job, family, etc.....
but because i finished the collections in my museum, i really do not want to restart my town...

*right now these are my to do list i set for myself

i wanted to get all the public works on the game...

i wanted to have all my other 3 characters in my town to finish their fish and bugs diary....

i wanted to change the pattern i laid down after i got all my dreamies but now there are so many great patterns out there to choose from, i wanted a new look...whew...it's like shopping for bags and shoes, can't decide which one i wanted...or what theme..

and besides if i wanted to get all the public works...i have to let go of some of my dreamies....
sigh..:( my sweet little Apple...she's my favorite out of all my dreamies....

i've loved this game since the nintendo cube AC and now i can't wait for the AC switch to come out and maybe it will let us transfer our current town to the switch....WOULDN'T THAT BE AWESOME..but i doubt they will do that...they will come out of another
Animal Crossing - maybe Animal Crossing fantasy ; Adventure ; travel or maybe it will let us set up a family with a mom, dad, daughter...etc....

when i do get the feeling i wanted to stop playing for awhile... i switch to my other games like zelda breath of the wild which by the way i'm on 99.91% I CAN'T FIND THE LAST LOCATION ...oh oh off topic there for a minute...

i'm sure you will get your ACNL groove again...hang in there....

p.s. and by the way...i've been here since 2013, this is the longest post i have ever done....lmao

Instead of restarting the town each time, you could rework your PWPs/paths/flower arrangements/villagers/home design until it's something you like more. The added freshness may help.

I really want new villagers but I'm not sure how to get them to leave, they all just wanna seem to stay put haha. I currently don't have any Amiibo villagers that I want to move in

I'm always going through the same cycle unfortunately I don't think I'll be getting out of it anytime soon. However a couple times a week I do get on and check up on the kiddos and make sure everyone is still happy and in town. I just don't want to have to start all over with a brand new town. I start and get excited then the reality sets in that it's going to take me so long to get back to where I'm happy and content so I give up lol

I do get a lot of joy from visiting da's and getting inspiration that usually lights a fire to start working on my town and getting things where i want them to be.

I just don't think I'll be able to get full enveloped in this game anymore. I do however wish to put more time into now that we know AC for the Switch won't be happening anytime soon. I started pacing myself with NL because I didn't want to be burned out on the game when a new one comes out. Now that I know that's a ways away I can put more time into NL and hopefully find some joy in it again.
