Does anyone else feel that now that the 50 returning villagers have come to New Leaf, they have lost their "charm" or not "special" anymore because they aren't exclusive to GameCube/E+ anymore? (Hope I made sense!)

Yeah... a bit. I would like if some were just kept through the gamecube and not brought back, it'd make the gamecube version more special than the other ac games.

Not really. I think it's cool that they brought them over to New Leaf. Hardly anyone plays those games these days anyway, now people can have their old favorites in a game they actually play.

Oh No, I know I LOVE that they are in the game too. It is AMAZING!!! I just feel like ACGC might lose it's magic/nostalgia.

I second this. It's like reconnecting with an old friend.

I personally don't think that those villagers will make the game lose its magic. Even though the games are all part of the same series there is something that sets them each apart, and that something is more than just about the villagers. When I first started playing New Leaf the thing that I didn't like so much was that a lot of the personalities had been watered down.

The older games were a lot funnier in the sense that villagers had a lot more personality. Snooty villagers were actually rude and let's not forget about Resetti. NPCs had backstories too and you'd get to learn more about them little by little, in New Leaf they're just there to do their job and you don't really get to learn anything about them.

So for me that nostalgia/magic isn't related to character models, it's more about those meaningful interactions that you don't really get to have in New Leaf.

Obviously this is just my opinion, other people might find nostalgia in other things! I'm only sharing my thoughts because maybe it might help you find some more of that magic? I don't know :)

No. If anything I'm happy to see them. GC AC will never lose its nostalgia. The music, the personalities, all of it cannot be replicated now.

I'm glad to see them, but its kind of disappointing knowing Cleo will never be truly 'snooty'. The personalities are very watered down compared to the GameCube version, so in a way, yeah, they do kind of lose their charm. ~

I think it makes the originals that much more special. Same thing could be with Pokemon game remakes. The original Ruby and Sapphire games bring me back so much nostalgia and the remakes make me feel really happy but it still isn't the same as the originals so you can still go back and play it to get your original happiness from it.

Definitely introduces new people to the older games and I like that. If anything, it's more of a hipster's point of view. "I liked the original villagers earlier than you did!" XP

In the next AC game, the charm of the older villagers will be gone. They'll be just like all the other villagers then ; w ;

If they make it to the next game that is :P If not, the charm will remain! <3

Nope, not at all. I'm happy they returned. If they didn't, I thought I was never gonna have them as dreamies. And i'd never get e+ anyway.

I think if anything it makes them even more special. They're highlighted as both old and new characters, which is rad af. :)

It's like, I want all the villagers to return that haven't yet, SO I CAN SEE THEM AGAIN!!! :). but I kinda don't in a way.

My cousin has always been so upset that Huck was never brought back after GC... so I'm going to get her the Huck Amiibo card for Christmas! I'm expecting her to be pretty thrilled. ^_^

Not for me. The memories from Gamecube are still there when I open it each time.
My son that was young at the time made two players. It brings back memories of the fun we had playing AC.

Not really, I mean you don't actually have to have any of the Gamecube villagers in your town, plus I think there were a few Gamecube villagers who weren't brought back so you can still play the Gamecube version for those ones.

Yeah, its sad to see people have never played ACGC. :(

It''s even worse when people think that Wild World was the first.

They will lose their uniqueness, but not their charm. I'm not bothered by the fact that the personalities were watered down in New Leaf, except for cranky villagers as they are no longer... well... cranky. As for backstories, they still kinda exist so I don't know why people are complaining about that.

I think it's a great opportunity to see the villagers from past games for those who didn't play the older animal crossing games like me. It builds up the experience and there's plenty of new items to rekindle interest in this series!

I thought that even wild world had more personality than New Leaf. All the normal villagers keep giving me control and playing advice and it gets really old.
