How can I make my living room feel more homely? No matter what I do it never feels right to me ;-;

Posting a picture of your current living room might help, since people don't really know what style you're gravitating towards.
I don't have fireplace in mine, but I really like the living rooms that have a fireplace and some darker furniture that goes well together but doesn't all match. Then you can use some lighter pieces and they contrast nicely. I have no real skill at decorating, but when I visit a house like this I do think it feels very homey.
