Hey guys. It's been quite a while since I've blogged, hasn't it? Today was an... Interesting day. And my emotions are in a flutter, so I figured I'd like to share them here with you all. I woke up at about 8 (crazy for a Saturday, I know, but we were having a family get together... just can't sleep in when those happen!) and I checked my phone to a text from my friend. Yesterday, there was a party for my school's cross country team. Totally clean, no drinking or anything, but.. He told me there was a car accident. One of them was driving four of the others around on loose gravel while goofing off, and she lost control. I was later told that the car rolled about four times. My friend told me that of the people in the car, only two were injured. One had a big gash on his leg, the other had a concussion.. And, of course, the one with the concussion was my best friend. I guess it's a bit more than that, the oh so cliche boy and girl are best friends, boy ends up falling for the girl scenarios.. We've kind of been struggling with that for a while, but that's another story. So five kids get in a car accident, one being my best friend/crush. Of course, this was a wake up call for me, and I had no idea any more of the details. He sent that at 11 PM last night, so I had no idea if things were better or worse or what really was going on. Fortunately I got a call from another friend saying that everyone was all right and back home, so I got in contact with my best friend/crush and she filled me in on more details. She got the brunt of the injuries.. A possibly broken nose, head and neck injuries, and other various injuries. But, with a situation like that, it could have been a lot worse.. They could have all died. So I wanted to take this time to remind you all of a few things. First of all, please don't be stupid. The driver was messing around and being unsafe while she was responsible for four other kids.. If she was paying attention, this wouldn't have happened. Second, be careful in general. I know this is said so often that it's almost funny now, but please wear your seat belts, don't drink and drive, don't text and drive, and such. If any of those other factors were thrown in, things could have been a lot worse. And finally, be thankful for every day you have. I don't think any of them woke up that morning thinking they were going to be in a car accident. So spend time with family and friends, live life up.. Take a chance, step out of your comfort zone, make a change in your life. Whatever it takes. Life's a game of chance, and we're not promised tomorrow.. So please make the most of today while you have it. God bless you all, thanks for reading, and have a wonderful evening.
