Lining Paths!

I'm having trouble deciding how to line my paths at the moment.

I've put my path down and I'm happy with where it is in town, but I don't know whether to use bushes or flowers to line it...

The problem with bushes is that they look so 'stubborn' if that makes sense.. like if they line the entire path, it really cuts my town up and makes every area into a little box. I love having wide open spaces in my town.

But having flowers lining the paths looks so busy! I've tried using one colour, a pattern of two or three colours, mixing flowers alternativley with bushes.. but it just looks so hectic and messy.

But no lining at all looks really bare D: It's like a ghost town!

Any ideas? What have you done? I wanna get out of this rut!

Thanks!

Bushes cannot be connected more than 12 times..

You can only connect 12 bushes together and then any around them will wilt and not grow (trees are included in this 12) .. This is to stop people boxing in villagers or other players around town..

Bushes look cooler to me, and I'm trying to line my paths as best as I can with bushes now, instead of flowers.. But flowers still look cool..

Flowers in one colour look cool along a path, I use roses quite a lot.. I particularly like gold, blue and purple roses

Bushes everywhere is eew.....You don't have to over everything, try some flowers and trees in a different place. There are also paths which have a border. You'll need to use 9 patterns to make it work, but its worth it.

Bushes lining paths looks nice, but I agree that it hinders freedom of moving around town, and the bush-number-limit of 12 is a bit of a bother as well.

I think street lights are a nice touch lining paths, and they have the added bonus of preventing neighbors' houses from plopping on your paths. In between the street lamps you could have bushes, which would elegantly solve the problem of the bushes-number-limit. The only bad thing is that maybe you wouldn't want to waste too many of your 30 PWPs on street lights.

I like lining my paths with flowers. I think with the right arrangement it doesn't have to looks messy. I have one of my paths lined with purple and blue flowers, which adds variety, but they're also close enough in color to not look messy.
I also think that lining paths with flowers of the same color, but differing species, would not look messy because they'd all have a single color in common. (You can see this in the HHA Showcase; each section is lined with a different color of all the main flowers.)

Lining paths with trees on both sides is also an option. It can be plain oak trees, fruit trees (probably all the same type of fruit, if you're worrying about it looking messy), pine trees, an alternating pattern (like perfect fruit, regular fruit, perfect fruit, etc.)

I mix mine up a little, like I do trees, bushes, and flowers. It doesn't have to be all one thing :) My paths already have borders, though.

Bushes look nicest in my opinion, but ruin the mobility so that's unfortunate. I don't line my paths, but I'd use flowers.

I really like the look of bush lined paths. You just have to break them up in a way that looks natural or meaningful. Mine don't look perfect, but I've grown to like them the way they are. When something becomes too perfect, it becomes too boring to me.
One thing I like is using a tree as a "stopper" when I reach the 12 limit (or 11, as trees are included in the rule). It'll hide the gap between rows of bushes and provide a place to cross (only north/south direction ofc).

Thanks for the suggestions guys, you've all really helped!

I've decided to use some bushes to line the corners of the paths, but use flowers in-between. I'll either use flowers of the same colour but different types, or just have flower-space-flower-space etc so it's not over-crowded. I think I'm gonna do all white flowers though to match the snow and make it look a bit winter-wonderland-ish :D

Thanks again!

I've got a mixture of flowers and bushes.

Bushes on corners and leading up to important buildings, and flowers in-between like you said ^-^
