Lily of the valley at 4 stars ?

Hey everyone !
Today my first Lily of the valley appeared on my island ☺ , I was very shocked to discover it since I'm still at 4 stars and Isabelle is telling me I've too much items on the floor...
Is it normal ? Did it happen for any of you too ?

It sounds like before you put items on your ground you had 5 stars and the lily started spawning? They don't disappear if you go back to 4.

I dunno I kept adding furnitures to decorate my island without removing much and I checked my rating yesterday and it was 4 stars too, I have the feeling I never reached 5 stars...

I haven't seen anyone reporting a bug about them spawning without 5 stars. Too much items refers to dropping them, when they're leaves.

You probably unconsciously did something after you checked in with Isabelle and before you quit the game yesterday which brought you to 5 stars, but then you did something again which brought you down to 4 stars before talking to her.

Oh yes, that's also important. The rating doesn't immediately update with Isabelle, but I guess the flowers spawn as soon as possible?

This happened to me. I saw a lily of the valley, was shocked, talked to Isabelle and I only had 4 stars. I picked up some things off the ground the next day and I immediately had 5 stars.

Thank you very much, I did move some items yesterday since I asked Nook to move a resident house too and wanted to place furnitures near the future plot. That must be the explanation... Hope to reach 5 stars again lol
It seems some items are considered as not good on the ground when some others are considered as outside decoration for Isabelle... I also placed some watering cans and fishing rods near some of my resident houses, maybe it was not a good idea..?

wow, congrats!! tho, im pretty sure it has more to do with the fact you had 5 stars, and then it spawned, and the you went down to 4 stars! eek!

Is there any actual data to know what furnitures upgrade your score when places outside, and which items Isabelle considers as garbage on the floor ? lol

I believe that anything you 'place' outside counts positively, whereas stuff you simply 'drop' is deemed trash, regardless what item it is. You have the option to 'place' your tools outside, as well!!

Yeah that's what I did, I used the "place" option, I placed a red angry elephant water can near Cyd house and a pink fishing rod near Flora's.
Maybe I have too many branches near trees... Does weeds count as a bad thing ? Because I have a naturel forest path with a lot of weeds in an area of my island.

I have tons of weeds and still have a 5 star rating. I think weeds do decrease your score but you can balance it out with flowers, shrubs and placed items. (I think the weeds in this game look nice, kinda like natural wild-flowers)

Dropped sticks and shells don't decrease your score apparently.

When I was going after the fifth star, I checked with her every time I changed something. Her feedback changed until I got the 5.

OP, I imagine you got the fifth without checking with Isabelle, forced the flower to spawn, then undid what you did, pushing you back to 4.

I believe weeds count negatively toward your 'Nature' score, which is easily offset with flowers! The real pain imo is to deal with 'development' which is bridges, inclines and furniture. Tree branches I'm unsure of, but would say they have no effect? Can't guarantee this.

Guys I think I now what it is... I'm dumb... I bought a lot of turnips this morning and dropped them on the ground in a corner of my island. It completely didn't connect in my brain that turnips on the ground ARE CONSIDERED DROPPED TRASH ITEMS

I have tons of weeds and still have a 5 star rating. I think weeds do decrease your score but you can balance it out with flowers, shrubs and placed items. (I think the weeds in this game look nice, kinda like natural wild-flowers)

I love weeds too, they're beautiful.

And it was indeed the turnips on the ground since I sold them today lol

Congrats on reaching! I believe if you have too many items on the floor the game by default doesn't let you hit 5 stars. So if you had enough points and had a clear floor at night and then dropped a bunch of turnips / DIYs then it could have dropped you back to 4
