Legend of Zelda

I have always wondered why it was called Legend of Zelda instead of Legend of Link? This is one issue that has bothered me, so please tell me why they call it Legend of Zelda. How is this her legend at all....? Ugh *waves an angry hand*

I think it's cause Link wasn't the name of the character canonically at the point the first game was released. Not sure though.

Link is only one character in the story, and as the games progress, he is often different.

not to say zelda isn't, just the same, but it's really not about link so much as it is about zelda. the real story has nothing to do with link beyond that he has the triforce of courage in some variants. zelda is almost always in the same position/rank every time. she more or less owns hyrule.

but i dunno. good question. maybe it's because you name your character, yourself?

Remember how that is a key item in Majora's Mask?

However, Link's Awakening I cannot explain. But it is also about Link sailing in a boat. Perhaps to save Zelda.

The original game was the legend of Zelda after the princess you save because you can change the heroes name. And I mean think about other things where a princess is in a main or near main role, they are often in the title.

Fact is you get to links awakening and majora's mask, and you really can't change the title....
