I saw a picture someone posted where their beach was full of baskets of fruit. If you leave objects/items laying around like that will they eventually disappear, or will they be there forever? Is outside a good place to store items? :confused:

They will never disappear unless something moves in on top of it. Meaning if a new villager moved in or you just happened to put it under Redd's tent spot or a face cut standee on holidays, it's gone. So yeah, it's a good alternative storage until you realize that you need to have less than 10 items, excluding fruit, to satisfy the requirements of a perfect town (your villagers will say they feel like they live in a landfill). Besides making a new character and utilizing that character's storage, you may also open an exhibit in the museum 2F and put your items there.

They stay for good, certain foods will rot after awhile.

You have to wait until about a week after you have contributed at least one thing to all four sections of the museum (art, bugs, fish, fossils). Blathers will then ask for you to open the top floor as a PWP.

As far as them disappearing if a house or special event tent lands on top of them, they will unless you have a police station. They will be transported to the lost and found in that case (unless your lost and found is full!).

You mean turnips? I thought they rot after a while regardless if they're in the closet or the ground. I don't know, haven't bought turnips yet.

Turnips rot the Sunday after they were purchased, or immediately if you TT (certain rules negate this, but I'm not an expert time-traveller). If you then leave one on the ground, you can catch a fly for your museum.

Do shells on the beach count towards the landfill comment? One of my beaches has a shell on every square and I was wondering if that was maybe why Isabelle wouldn't tell me any different ^^;;
