On Sunday night I finished crocheting the largest project I've ever made. I crocheted a blanket for my husband in the colors of the Philadelphia Eagles. I'm ashamed to say this blanket took me considerably longer than I had thought it would take. I started this blanket in 2014 when we lived in our old home and both our dogs, Jeremiah & Piper, were still with us. Over the years there were times (such as when the dogs each passed) when I lost all interest in all of my hobbies so I took breaks from crocheting. I promised my husband I would finish it and he patiently waited all these years. I'm glad I was able to finish it while it's still football season and before Christmas.

The blanket is approximately 5 1/3 feet (64 in.) wide & 8 feet (97 in.) long. It is one of the heaviest blankets I've ever felt. My son said I basically crocheted a curtain. lol! He said I need to make another one to complete the set. (I said "never gonna happen", btw.) Hubby loves his blanket & I'm so very happy he does.

(Just to give you an idea of the true size of this blanket, in the picture Hubby is behind the blanket.
His hands are literally touching the ceiling of our apartment.)

(I'm sorry the pic is a bit fuzzy. My son took it and it was hard to fit the whole blanket in the frame.)

Wow that is huge!! And it looks great :) congratulations and good job for persevering on such a long task! I can't even imagine how hard it must have been to handle once it started growing in size.

That is amazing! Congrats on finishing it. I know what it is like to have UFOs giving you guilt trips from their project bags.

Looks like the perfect blanket to snuggle up on the couch with. :D

Oh my gosh so big! You have such dedication, I don't crochet myself but I do know people who do, it can be rather time consuming, esp with such a large project like a blanket. Then there's keeping track of the rows and stitches as well. Looks very snuggly too :) Awesome job on such a large task

Thank you! I felt bad that it toke me so long but my husband understood. It was very hard to maneuver at the end. I crochet in my bed at night and trying to wrangle this is bed was fun. It also made me feel sleepy since it was a blanket on me while I was in bed. lol!

Thank you! I'm so glad I was able to finish it while it's still football season. Every time I took a break from working on this the guilt was awful. I would apologize to me husband every time. Thankfully he's a good guy and is patient as well.

He's been using it every night since Sunday and has told me how much he loves it every day. lol!

Yes, it's HUGE! And heavy, too. I'm proud I was finally able to finish it for him.

Thank you! It's ginormous! lol! When I first started I hadn't really thought out just how large it was going to need to be to give my 6 ft. 5 in. husband maximum blanket coverage. I had planned on a 5 stripe blanket but 5 stripes just didn't cut it. Adult size blankets are the most time consuming for sure. Oh my gosh, keeping stitch count is so important. I had to redo a ton of rows in this because I'd get sleepy and think I was counting correctly only to get to the end and have the count be off. I even use stitch markers but I would miss a stitch once in a while. There are over just over 41,000 stitches in this blanket. Hubby seems to enjoy having it in bed at night and he's been sleeping more soundly so I guess I got the snuggle factor down pat. :D Thank you again!

That's really impressive :0

I crochet a lot of scarves when I was first learning. I figured it was the easiest way to get practice. I think I still have all those scarves somewhere too. lol!

Thank you for your kind words! I love to crochet so it even though this blanket took me so long to complete I did enjoy creating it. I do feel bad that my hubby had to wait so many years but he understood. He was going through some of those rough patches with me. Hubby & son have always encouraged my crocheting. I think they both like to see me enjoying being creative. I don't art very well so crocheting is my outlet. Right now I'm working on a diaper cover for a plush doll I have. I'm not sure what to work on next. I might have some photos of past items I've made. I'll have to check though. Thank you again!

I found some pics of older projects I made. Two were dresses for the plush doll I'm making the diaper cover for now. Her name is Stella and she's a zombie baby. The other 2 are Gryffindor related.

I made this for Summer holidays here in the US.

I don't know why this pic seems darker than the other two. Sorry about that.
This pic is to show the bow on the back.
Every girl needs a little black dress, right?

I found these gorgeous vintage buttons on Etsy.
My mom is a huge Harry Potter fan and a Gryffindor so I surprised her by making her this scarf.
She loves it and wears it every Winter. She just told me she got it out for the cold weather.
(I'm Slytherin, btw.)

Mom liked the Gryffindor crest so I found one and ironed it on for her.
(The shininess faded away a few minutes after we took the photo.)
I had been wanting to learn how to make Granny Squares and I had yarn left over from Mom's scarf so I made this baby blanket to practice. I think I might still have this packed away somewhere actually....
