So, I want to go with a nice, organic forest look for my town. Lots of trees, lots of bushes, flowers for days, dirt paths instead of tiles... but I also want it to look somewhat put together. To that end, I plan to only grow two kinds of flowers (roses and lilies) in specific colors (pink, yellow, and maybe white). I also only want to grow a few kinds of fruit, so my trees will be nice and consistent.

That brings me to my first problem: what kinds of fruit should I grow? I want to grow cherries for certain, because they're my native fruit. But what would look good with them? My fianc? suggested apples. I can see where he's coming from - all that red would be rich and lovely, and the shapes of cherries and apples would look nice together. But one of my friends suggested pears. She thinks that apples would make for too much red alongside the cherries, and that the green pears would make a nice complement to them. Who should I listen to? Or should I go with something else altogether?

Also, what kind of bush(es) should I plant? Should I plant a single kind, or should I plant multiple kinds so I can have bushes flowering for more of the year?

Thanks in advance for any help, you guys.

I think peaches would look nice next to pink and yellow flowers, since the regular peaches are pinkish. And if you plant perfect cherry trees, they would look nice with the yellow and pink, too. White or pink azaleas would look nice with all of these, I feel, and azaleas tend to make town look put together but not overdone.

Oh, that sounds lovely! I'll have to find some peaches and build up a stash of azalea starts (I'm thinking I'll go with white), but it'll be well worth the effort. I'll need to work out where to place said plants, but that's half the fun. Thank you for your suggestion!

To anyone else reading this, please make suggestions of your own, or feel free to link pictures of your town for inspiration! I am not 100% settled on this idea yet, though it is very promising. I may even want ideas for looks to switch to if I get tired of this one.

I can provide you with some peaches if you want! But I agree that peaches would look nice. I have a similar town with only cherries, perfect cherries, apples, and peaches. I personally don't like oranges or pears that much. I planted white-azalea starts by my peach trees and one section has purple and pink tulips in front of it with white cosmos behind it. I think it looks really nice, I'll go dig up a picture I took a few days ago and post it. Also, if you want to come take a look around my town, you can just let me know!

This is what I was talking about. :)
I can post more screenshots if you'd like to see. My town has a very similar feel as what you're going for.

Oh gosh, I wouldn't want to impose! If it's no trouble, though, the peaches would be dearly appreciated... I've had no luck finding any on the island. I'd love to visit your town, too! I wouldn't be able to stay terribly long, because there's a data limit on our internet, but it would be nice to see another town in person rather than through screenshots.

It's absolutely no trouble at all! You won't find peaches, cherries, apples, oranges, or pears on the island. You can only get other fruits different from your native one from Isabelle, villagers, or other players. That's okay, I can just give you a quick tour :)
Would you be able to come over right now? It's okay if you're not :) I'd just like to add your FC before I let other people in to sell turnips.

Oh, also, some trees may be bare because I picked fruit from them. In that case I'll let you know what fruit tree it is. :)

Ohhhh! That makes sense. I'd had all the varieties of fruit in my old town, but I couldn't remember how I got all of them. I just remembered grabbing a bunch on tours.

Sorry my response took so long! I didn't mean to keep you waiting. My FC is 3866-8467-2820. I'm good to go any time!

On tours you get mangoes, lychees, lemons, durians... and I feel like I'm missing something. But yeah, those are it. And bananas and coconuts from the beaches.

It's okay! I'll add you and let you in right now. :)

Don't forget to add me - my FC is on the side, but it's 2793-1077-8413. :)

Go with cherries and apples, I think that would look good. As for a tip, I think you should be careful with planting trees. If you do to many, it will look cluttered. Try to find a pattern, and space them out. Not saying you cannot have them next to each other, but maybe putting them in patches would be a good idea. Hope I helped!

I'm pretty well settled on peaches and perfect cherries, but I am considering including apples in the mix. With perfect cherries, I'm a little less worried about having too much red.

As for the trees, I'm probably going to have some places where they're pretty dense - I'm going for the look of a deep forest. I don't want to make it impossible to maneuver, though, so I am going to be mindful of that.
