Lack Of Furniture

I would also just like to add to my ramblings that the lack of furniture majorly affected the house interiors of all villagers.

To many, this is also one of the many deciding factors of choosing a villager.

When I was waiting for my game to arrive when i ordered it and my switch back at the end of May, the thing I was most excited about wasbthe furniture so i looked it up on the database and man I was extremely disappointed. Still am. But at the same time thanks to the lack of furniture and inability to recreate some of my HHD and NL designs, I came up with some other designs. I was initially going to dedicate my whole island to Dragon Age, but now I have some One Piece areas as well. I still am stumped on coming up with new ideas and finishing my current like my tavern and marketplaces. i want to make my designs unique, out of the box and it is extremely difficult to do. i’ve been going to harv’s studio almost every day to try coming up with new ideas but my ideas always end up looking like something else i did.

Because of the lack of furniture, I had to postpone a lot of plans and projects. I did improvise and substitute as much as possible. It is extremely hard to substitute for the ideas I have though sadly.

yup, this is my main problem with the game right now. I feel like I'm using the same pieces over and over again on my island because there is no variety in the catalogue. With each update I've been desperately wishing for more furniture items but have been repeatedly disappointed. Redd's art was good as well as some of the pirate items, but that was kind of it for me (my island is tropical themed). I was especially hoping there was gonna be some new festival items with the fireworks update last summer, but sadly no. Its really frustrating.

What do you mean by majorly affected? That all villager houses aren't good because of lack of furniture? I'd disagree with that as well.
Poppy, Sylvana, Aurora, Bones, Diana, Tangy, Merengue, Marshal, and many others I can't think of off the top of my head right now all seem to have pretty awesome houses, with some being a lot better than they were in new leaf.

I have Sylvana and her house has to be one of the most beautifully decorated house i've seen, it being the cherry blossom set. I am also planning to get Bones soon because I love him and his home design. Other villager houses that impress me are Bones, Dobie, Rod, Diana, Raymond, Audie, Genji, Marina, etc. So many of these villagers have lovely selected furniture that matches them and an original house design. I can only name a few houses that don't look as good due to the lack of furniture in the house like Mitzi's and Punchy's house. (Their houses look generic and empty because they only have standard furniture in their homes)

While it may seem like it, I didn't mean that it's a completely bad thing. I am aware that many interiors have improved. But I'm looking at the bigger picture here.

We have 391 villagers. The reduced amount of furniture led to some interiors looking completely similar, just with alternate placement and colors. Also, wider variety could've expressed a villager's personality more.

For example, some of Merengue's sweets-themed furniture was replaced with basic pastel-colored wooden furniture. The cake display furniture that added charm to her house was gone. Elvis previous interior was more royal and stately compared to zodiac furniture that doesn't even fit him. Or Benjamin, whose sloppy interior pretty much portrayed his character perfectly.

Sure, the existing furniture they have works just fine. But furniture from the previous sets could've worked better. But to each his own, I guess.

Yes I definitely agree about Sylvana and the other villagers you mentioned. Also forgot to mention Pekoe! I adore her house.
Yeah Mitzi and Punchy deserved better house interior, as did Lolly and Merry.

Ah okay, I thought you were basically saying all villager interior wasn't good. I do think they did a great job expressing a lot of the villager's personalities through the interior design but they definitely did fail with some. I see how Merengue's house would be slightly cuter with the sweets furniture!

I know there are some elements incorporated into the new sets, but I'd also be happy with entirely new ones based on other kinds of architectural designs, like mid-century modern or memphis design.
not 2 be dramatic but i would literally pass away if a mid-century modern furniture set was in the game.

i also feel like this game lacks furniture, but i also think more will be added as we progress thru their update schedule. even tho i was a bit disappointed with the spooky set, i liked how it could also be used for more of a basic autumnal feel rather than just Halloween, and i hope the type of flexibility with that set is present new furniture sets going forward. but i also wouldnt mind some niche things from time to time. some of the coolest acnl screenshots i saw had a whole hodgepodge of furniture, featuring both "basic" and super specific furniture (im looking at you mush closet).

I had plans for my island and house, and was utterly heartbroken to find the hundreds of items I had planned, weren't in the game.

Not a pot to piss in, or a window to throw it out, so to speak.

I literally searched the hundreds of NL items including food and furniture, and not a single item was added.

I can't theme my island or home... ever.

I miss the minimalist, rococo, sleek, princess, and gorgeous series the most. this is my favourite reply

Same! I was really looking forward to recreating my bathroom for example from ACNL but.. Nothing! I wish they would have just added most things from NL AND more sometimes, but I also like the newness of these new items

I haven't even been to Harv's studio yet but this inspired me to go and give it a go lol.

Completely agree.

This is what I find disappointing in particular. I love to visit dream addresses but every town, even if they have vastly different themes, feels very similar. I think it's just for lack of stuff to choose from, people are being as creative as possible but the towns still feel very same-y

This is something that bothers me too. I already try my best to use the same furniture in every room to make them kinda unique from each other, but it's not quite easy, simply because of said lack. As much as I love the new furniture sets (especially the Antique one), I do miss the old ones from the previous titles a lot. I just hope for them to come back in future updates, otherwise new furniture in general would be nice too.
