So, I've recently been able to finally start the decorating of my island and house :) But I noticed something disappointing; I know you have a lot of stuff to catalogue but I'm looking at full completed catalogues and I'm really underwhelmed at the amount of stuff like clutter, sets etc. I dont know if this is something that's already been discussed and is planned for future updates but I reaaaaally hope there is.

Some of the cutest and my most favourite items from New Leaf and HHD are gone, and thats specific but theres hardl any clutter anymore: Im scrambling places like nookazon and completed catalogues here on TBT but its so sad :c

Did anyone else notice this/feel this way or have any knowledge if this will be improved? D:

This is one of my biggest disappointments with this game. I don't know why those sets had to be removed.

I could also say the same with the new DIYs they give us. They focus too much on exterior decor over beds, vanities, cabinets, sofas, dressers, etc.

Most islands end up looking too similar.

Yeah, it's been mentioned. :( Tbh I'm still a bit bummed out that Nintendo added more color variations than actual furniture, but I hear they'll continue to add new updates and events as the interest for NH is still going strong. Hopefully, that means all the old furniture will be making a comeback ...and maybe some of the old buildings like Brewsters and Retail too? 🤞😢

I know it's disappointing that there isn't as much furniture in the game from the get go but I've been loving the event furniture and special items they've been releasing. As long as they keep doing that, I'll be alright with what we have in the game. Still, I really believe more content is coming! I think they'd be foolish not to release more items. My guess is that in the new year after the seasonal stuff is over with we'll get more updates with new events/buildings/sets.

I'm glad we're discussing this again. Yes, it's been brought up before but we've had a few more updates now and we've gotten things like pirate, mermaid and a few event sets, so I think it's good to revisit now that we have an idea what sort of things are being added.

There was plenty of furniture for my house for sure, but that was just because this game happened to have a lot of beautiful things in just my taste. The seasonal furniture is lovely and I adore the new crafted furniture (ironwood, log, bamboo, zodiac) but I too, am struggling to make my whole island cohesive?
I'm attempting to make like a bamboo/tiger forest and there's a nice amount of kimonos and such available, but even with the recipes for every piece of bamboo and stone furniture and all the catalogued furniture in the game (I went to one of those catalogue islands) I'm still struggling to fill up more than one little area

I'm sure I'll work it out but, there really are a lot less little random things to put on tables, and the sets have fewer pieces per set

Yes! Almost everything feels like it's for exterior use, and the small amount of sets available are very much repeated everywhere I go D:

I doubt Retail would come back as thats kind of the whole idea of crafting and customizing at DIY benches, I miss reese and cyrus so much though :c

I hope so. I enjoy the seasonal items as well don't get me wrong but something as simple as a bed or a couch it seems like we are very limited, but I hope youre right about them releasing more items after New Years :)

Thats so good, I feel like the craftable items aren't really my taste very often so that's probably why I'm struggling, lol. I'm making a sort of bamboo forest and the bulk of my island is very naturey but i find myself repeating the same DIYs everywhere with rocks and bamboo items too, so I try fill it up with random little clutter like the random things we used to be able to put on tables in NL, but I'm at a shortage of options at the momeny, and I've barely started decorating my island!
i wish we had more sets like we had in new leaf. we have a lot of weird or stylized furniture and not so much normal stuff for a house, like a pretty couch that isn't the basic double sofa....

edit: or not even furniture, we have a ton of items but not a ton of real furniture.
Im finding it so difficult to make even a living room, so I feel you. Don't get me wrong I definitley like what they have so far but I'm really eager for them to expand the catalogue so both exterior and interior, but mainly interior, is a little more diverse c:

One of my favorite activies in all of the previous games was going to Nook's Cranny and seeing what furniture they had that I had not collected yet. It was so exciting to complete a series or set or theme, because it gave me more flexibility to decorate and score more HHA points. I am not much of a designer, but the old system, based on collecting, was fun and low pressure for me.

The biggest disappointment for me in this game is that most days I have everything in Nook's Cranny (which was the case so early in the game, even before I had much of anything). Even when something is new, the new item is rarely part of something bigger.

I wholeheartedly agree that more items/sets are needed and I think they will be added incrementally. They found a creative way to add the mermaid set, and I don't doubt more sets will be coming in conjunction with different events etc. I just wish they'd speed it up but I know these things take time and I want the game developers to have quality of life lol.

i can't say much, considering i have no idea how the items were in other games (as i've only been able to properly play NH), but as someone who loves to decorate inside and outside, i run into this issue as well. but it's.. almost forced me to move out of my respective bubble of comfortability and i think i've been able to turn some of my rooms around amazingly.

i tend to look forward to the updates more and more because it means the possibility of new items. so i can definitely understand, as someone who's played previous games and has had a wide range of variety before seeing the items in NH as a little lackluster.

I miss the minimalist, rococo, sleek, princess, and gorgeous series the most. I know there are some elements incorporated into the new sets, but I'd also be happy with entirely new ones based on other kinds of architectural designs, like mid-century modern or memphis design. As of now, I think there are not enough furniture sets in the game to make everyone's island unique from one another.

As someone who runs a catalog island, I can say there are plenty of furniture items in the game. Some sets are a bit underwhelming and unnecessary, but there's definitely a LOT of furniture that you can catalog and use to decorate, and even more that you can craft.

Agree with the above user. There are plenty of different furniture sets with different colorations in the game. Try cataloging more sets.

I have cataloged every orderable item in the game. And I still have the problem of picking the right furniture that really fit in my island's theme. But the lack of variety made me compromise and disregard the vision that I actually had in mind before the game released.

Those who wanted a fantasy/fairy-tale-themed island could've had the regal, classic, rococo, gorgeous, sweets and princess sets. Forest/nature-themed islands could've had more with alpine, ranch, blue, & green series. Modern/urban themes could've had sleek, modern, modern wood, minimalist, stripe, astro, robo, sloppy, and polka-dot series.

Yet we're constrained with around 10 furniture sets when we could've had 30, and that's not including the event-exclusive sets. And as I've mentioned above, these new sets prioritize landscaping and exterior decor over interior design.

I apologize for my rant, but this really irks me every time I think about it.

Yep. Thats why its been so hard to decorate my island. There's barley any outside furniture variety to work with, I was very disappointed with that

Well I'm definitely in the minority, but no I haven't noticed a lack of furniture to be honest. There is actually more than I know what to do with. 😅 This is my first time properly playing an animal crossing game, so there is nothing for me to compare it to.

For fantasy/fairy tale themed islands isn't that where the mush DIYs come in? Along with all the beautiful flower DIYS? For forest/nature we have bamboo, cherry blossom, maple leaf and mush diys to use as well. For the blue and green series is there even a point anymore since all of the wood furniture you craft you can customize blue/green and it's pretty much the same? Plus there's lots of blue/green catalog items. There's also so many things you can use custom patterns on to make look different. The amount of customization available in this game is amazing - it's very difficult for me to ever run into any problems decorating no matter what theme I'm doing unless the theme involves a lot of purple. Not sure why they hardly have any purple furniture in this game.
