There isn't one from previous years. We haven't gotten that far yet. It's just a collectable you can buy from the shop. I'm pretty sure the actual stone is ruby.

The birthstone collectibles started on September 2013 too. So we have to wait for July 2014 for it to be available to us.

Nope. The birthstones are only going to be in store once. (From what I've heard) After August, there wont be anymore.
