I've had exactly the same problem.

Can you just make it so:

A. you only need to buy it ONCE
B. It actually works?!

No, because there's going to be more things added to the shop. It also gives bells another purpose.

And just so you know, the next Shop update will include history, so we can just give it to you again if it doesn't work. But I'm not sure if I want to wait for the current version to come out of Beta first.
