It should not take so long for people to arrive on your island

I like the little arrival airport message styled board thing when someone visits. And I like the fly over. The part that bugs me is Nintendo's slow servers and the fact that talking to Orville takes freakin forever. For the love of god, yes Orville I know the code will let randos in, but I'm not giving it to randos that's the whole point vs going throu FRs.

Since I love hosting and visiting other island, I hate these loading times. But talking about the good things, I think the dodo code system is great since we don't need to add every person we want to visit to our friend list.

Load times are ridiculously long. Having to sit there and watch the plane loading screen is annoying... and then the walk, both coming and going... it takes way too long. I agree while there's some charm in seeing the character up close and walk out, I think it would be better if as they arrive, you see their passport as the island saves/loads. That's good enough. I really like the flyover, so maybe they can keep that or shorten it a few seconds... whatever to make the experience less clunky. It's really a nightmare to go to someone's island where people are continuously coming and going. Ideally, there would be a way to send out an invite and have several people arrive at once.

i think the most painful part, personally, is the black screen part right after you (or the person visiting your island) are supposed to have finally arrived, and out of the airport. but it still takes a ridiculous amount of time to even load that. what did we go through 1-2 minutes of fancy air travel for if it's still not completely loaded?

Yeah, it does indeed take awhile to load. I mean, I don't mind the "seeing another person's island", but it does get old after awhile, especially if it's the same island you've been to over and over again. I play with my mom everyday and we go shopping in each others islands and she's pretty much done terraforming her island and everything is set, so it does get tiring seeing the same screen again and again. :/

If I wanted to wait ages to go to an island, I WOULD GO TO HAWAII. While I never went to other people’s towns in New Leaf, I can assume it didn’t take 2 minutes to load.

100% agree, the cutscenes are SO freaking long, like please kill me now 😒
I haven’t done any trading yet, but I swear to god if I have to go through what you guys are going through... arghhgg

I feel like they should consider NOT letting us know when someone new comes to the island?? How does it matter in any way? Especially if you are just visiting someone else’s island. Maybe something like a quick banner saying “someone’s arrived”, not the cutscene

I think it should be skippable, like Kapp'n's singing on the way to Tortimer's island in New Leaf. That way, it's there for those who enjoy it, and skippable for those who don't. Honestly the loading screen the host sees is pretty boring tbh.. just a flight update screen? I honestly don't think the host should see any loading screen. But yes sometimes the flyover for the visitor is actually nice. But it should be optional and not forced.

FR. It’s such a hassle to deal with the cutscenes every. single. damn. time!! Like geez, idc if you’re starting departure, let me walk around my island.

I totally agree with everyone. Too many saving it's so annoying. When there are many people, trading or doing things you wanna do can barely be done. Imagine taking 1 step takes you minutes. You waste so much time watching the arrival and departure of others. I don't mind watching it if it is much simpler, faster and doesn't interfere with what I'm trying to do.

The only time the flying cutscenes is during meteor showers. I know I'm interrupting the stars by flying in and taking so long. It can be kind of frustrating when selling turnips too if theres 100 people waiting in the queue and you can't leave or even arrive. I wish it was just a shade shorter or that you could turn it off. Maybe a "quick flight" could be a fun option in the future. I'd love to have favorites for a best friends island and be able to pop there in 15 seconds or less!

i wish you could turn that feature off. it’s cute if i’m visiting a friend and want to see their island development from the air but 99% of the time i’m just tryna get in and out quickly for a trade.

and don’t even get me started on getting trapped in celeste hell when you thought there would be two visitors and there are actually 10. 😭 i'm often happy when someone else disconnects bc i just wanna leave lmao.

to be honest, i think the loading times are long because of nintendo's servers or the wifi of the person/you! for me, my wifi has been slowed down by my provider (as if it wasn't slow enough already >:( ). i know it's really frustrating but in order for this to be faster, i think that nintendo needs to upgrade their servers or you/other person needs to get better wifi. this isn't an attack btw! i'm that slow wifi person dfksdjfksdj

I need to do a test run to see how long NL takes to visit and have someone visit compared to NH. I might try that today and see what the results are.

Anyone else find it hilarious that we have to pay for online now and its arguably worst than when we were not paying for it. NewHorizons and Smash Ultimate are the biggest contenders there.

I agree the whole "start descending bleep bleep" part is just SO long, it makes it so hard to play with more than one people at a time, the only time I gave by mistake a dodo code to two people at the same time I felt so guilty cause one of them had to wait through the whole cut scene while trying to make a quick trade! And to be honest also the dialogues with Orville at the airport are just way too complicated and long! Also if you make a mistake you have to do it all over again 😥

It's partially the ol' Nintendo classic of having severely outdated or cumbersome online features. As someone mentioned earlier just look how bad the online features of Pokemon Sword & Shield were butchered.

But they somehow made online more manageable when we weren't paying for it...

every evening my friends meet to water each others flowers and often we are 5+ people. the time it takes until everyone is there and the fear that one of us has a bad internet connection just ruins the whole fun sometimes. if nintendo really wants to push trade and playing together online, they should completely redo the online multiplayer because its just straight up bad.. i cannot comprehend how it took us 15 seconds in new leaf and in new horizons it will take up to 2 minutes..
