Island Woes:

So people can still troll you on the island, I was stuck on an island with some people and they were able to slow the internet down so I couldn't leave and then were able to like make it so we were stuck in this loop of "Someone is trying to leave." popping up over and over again.

Be careful out there folks!

They were hacking some way as well, but I don't know how (as I don't hack).

Not very informative, I know, but just thought I should make a post to tell people.

I cant give out any information because Im pretty sure that it's against forum rules. But it's possible to hack over multiplayer if you have the right tools.

That's too bad. I rarely play online at the island now, I've had some bad experiences too. Or I'll get disconnected and lose a pocket full of fish!!

I used to make a point of visiting the island every day to check the shop but I started encountering more and more jerks like that too. One time I had to reset my router to actually leave, because some chump was sitting talking to the NPC so I couldn't leave, and I'm on a N3DSXL so there's no WiFi switch on the side. I'm starting to come across more shifty people that do that, or intentionally error out to boot everyone off the island after they've bought something or finished a game. It REALLY sucks.

I don't think I'll ever go back, especially now knowing that someone who just happens to have the right tools can hack you. That is scary, I'd be devastated if anything happened to my file.

i haven't had any bad experiences yet but yesterday i went on and this guy was kinda just teleporting everywhere and dropping amiibo items & money lol didn't take any of it tho since i had a lot of it

I'm not sure since I've never experienced it but last year when I was poking around some AC communities I read a couple horror stories of people picking up items on the island that someone had dropped and it messed up their game. I'm not sure what else people can do, I guess the safest thing to do is never pick up anything you find lying around, but other than that I really have no idea what else hackers are capable of. Still though, it's better to be cautious. There's a lot of malicious people out there.
