Island spawning

I often have trouble making bugs spawn on palm trees.
I am curious to know if fish spawns influence the bug spawns.

My feeling is no, there is no connection. Are you talking about the island? What you do is cut down all the trees in the middle and get rid of all the flowers. And you also reduce the number of palm trees. Then the rare beetles spawn regularly.

I cut down all trees except 4 palms and chaise off the little roaches into the water when I'm hunting expensive palm bugs.

I'm a newbie so this thread is really helpful!!
I have cut all normal trees but I have some flowers and quite a handful of Palm Trees ( thought it would make more bugs)

I find it also helps to make a loop kind of like an infinity symbol (sideways 8), so you're always approaching the trees from the south. Down through the center, up the right side, then back through the middle, going up the left side, repeat.

Cut down all trees on the grass, remove flowers, dig up bushes, scare away other bugs such as wharf roaches and such and run in a sideways 8 shape, checking from left to right.
