Island Hopping or Trading for villagers?

Which do you prefer? Island hopping can be quite exciting, but the only way to certainly get the villager you want is from trading on the network. What a dilemma! Or do you go for the ultimate random and let the game decide who moves in

I rarely ever island hop, but I guess for the most part I let the game decide. I have never actually traded yet, but I'd rather push my luck than try to barter for a buying price. My luck so far has been pretty good in regards to letting the game decide, island hopping on the other hand, has been pretty unlucky.

However, some of the villagers that I currently have I received as giveaways which I do not intend to let go!

I island hop! I don't participate in villager trading, because I'd rather have a "fresh" villager with no memories lol!

I like both, I really did like island hopping until I spent an insane amount of NMTs to find a dreamie with no luck so I resorted into trading which was easier and more efficient for me at the time c:
